Chapter 24: Relaxation Time
written by Joie
added on: 21 Feb 2002 - based on characters created by Winnie Holzman
ANGELA looks at BRIAN, studying his face. BRIAN squirms a little under the scrutiny. But ANGELA isn't really thinking about BRIAN. She sighs.
ANGELA: I ... don't know. (Beat) I have to think about it. (ANGELA looks around) Um... do you, like, have anything to eat or anything?
BRIAN's face relaxes, he smiles, and nods, starting towards the kitchen.
BRIAN: Yeah.
ANGELA follows him.
ANGELA: Ugh, I'm sorry to ask, that's like, so *pushy* of me, but I just... (ANGELA looks sheepish) I'm a bit hungry.
CUT TO:
ANGELA and BRIAN sit in front of the TV. They're half-watching some show. Several snacks lie around them. They seem relaxed, for once.
BRIAN:... I don't know. It seems like she doesn't even know how to control the class or something, I mean...
ANGELA: I know. What about when James Calvares just walked out of the room, when his mobile went off, and never came back? And she just let him go!
BRIAN: (chuckles) I think she's losing it.
ANGELA nods, drains her glass.
BRIAN: Uh, you want more soda?
ANGELA: Do you mind?
BRIAN: (joking) Yeah. How dare you ask for more soda.
ANGELA hands her glass to BRIAN. He goes into the KITCHEN.
ANGELA (VO): It's nice... just being relaxed, with Brian. I think, in this weird way, finding out... made things easier. It made me see Brian for who he really is. Instead of someone who was always... trying to hide.
