Jordan Catalano

Jordan Catalano is a bit of an enigma. He doesn't talk a lot, which makes it all to easy to read into him whatever one wants to see in him. This much is known. Jordan is one of those loners who ditches every class save for PE and Shop and consequently has been held back a few years, two in Jordan's case, making him a junior at Liberty High. Jordan has trouble reading, but no one really ever notices save for Angela and Mr. Racine. He sings, writes songs, and plays the guitar for Frozen Embryos, which changed its name to Residue after Tino left the band. He loves his car. He smokes. He knows how to get you a fake ID. His father used to beat him, until he fought back and threw a chair at his old man. He has an extremely hard time expressing himself, especially to Angela.

Jordan has a thing for Angela, which she reciprocates intensely. They dated for a while, until he "ummed" Rayanne. Things looked bad for the relationship after that, until he got Brian, his English tutor, to ghost-write a letter to Angela for him.

Part Italian.
Often doesn't know what day of the week it is.
According to Angela he leans great.
Goes underneath the bleachers to smoke.
Mr. Racine was the best teacher he ever had.
His uncle, who choked on a chicken bone, but survived.
He used to "umm" Cynthia Hardgrove, owner of one semi-precious pimple.
Once said, and I quote, "Hey! Isn't tonight, like, New Year's Eve?"
Every year, on Halloween, he and his friends go out to the school, tear up the track, throw garbage cans over it. He's sick of it, but it's something he can't get out of.

Jordan: "This doesn't seem like a Friday."
Angela: "It's Thursday."
Jordan: "Oh. Are you sure?"
Angela: "Yesterday was Wednesday, so..."
Jordan: "Oh...Right."
Angela: "So, that's how I know."

Jordan: "How old are you?"
Angela: "I don't believe this. What's your point? 15."
Jordan: "You act younger."
Angela: "First of all, you don't know me well enough to say how old I seem. And second --"
Jordan: "You talk a lot."
Angela: "I've said, like, eight sentences to you my entire life."

"So, getting back to that Metamorphosis story? It's made up, right?"

I was going nowhere
Going nowhere fast
Drowning in my memories
Living in the past
Everything looked black til I found her
She's all I need and that's what I said
I call her Red...
She's my shelter from the storm
She's a place to rest my head
Late at night she keeps me safe and warm
I call her Red...

Jordan: "You know those guys? Up in the mountain?"
Angela: "What guys?"
Jordan: "Who make snow. Like, as their job."
Angela: "Oh yeah."
Jordan: "I would really like to do that."
Angela: "You mean part time, or..."
[he kisses her]

"So my feeling is, whatever happens, happens."

Jordan: "Why are you like this?"
Angela: "Like what?"
Jordan: "Like how you are."
Angela: "How am I?"

Brad: "So, do you have a major?"
Jordan: "I don't think so."
Hallie: "Oh, you'd probably know if you did."
Jordan: "Yeah. I probably would have gotten a letter, or something?"

"You could, have sex with me though..." {Angela laughs} "...if you really want to help." {Angela gets up, laughing} "I guess that's a 'no'?"

(to Brian): "You can even ah, start with the, the basics, you know? I mean, even if it seems like too basic? Start with that. And then after, if you want, I can teach you how to get someones phone number."

"Guess what? There's like a term for me. I'm a rudimentary reader with low literacy skills."

"I have all these dreams where I know exactly what to say. Then you tell me... you know... that you forgive me."

"Wow. Ironic."
