- #979Seth from Brighton, England wrote on Wednesday, 09 January 2002:This is brilliant. For some reason I've never actually looked for My So-Called Life on the net before, but I'm glad i have. I first saw the show from my sisters videos. She taped them all the first time they were shown here on channel 4. Which pretty much means that I've grown up watching it (I'm 16 now). Thanks for the great site dedicated to what truely must be THE greatest tv show of all time.
- #978Enrique from United Kingdom wrote on Saturday, 05 January 2002:I didn't watch "My So-Called Life" when it came out in 1994, I think I was six years old at the time! The first time I watched it was when a UK channel "Trouble" aired the series! It was a Saturday afternoon and I'd just got in, I was tired and flicking through the channels! I heard someone call out the name "Rickie" (on the tv), I'm called Enrique which can be shortened to Rickie (as you all know) so I stopped there, as nothing decent was on. It was the "Hallowe'en" episode!
The first thing that hit me about this programme was that there was this guy, in the girls bathroom! For some reason I felt strange connection to the characters! They, somehow felt a part of me? I'd never seen it before and didn't know a thing about these charaters but I felt as if I did! As I continued to watch the episodes I grew closer to each character, I could see people around fitting into the characters in MSCL. I could see scenes from that programme happening in my life! It was, for a start, a comfort, to see these things do happen! It made me feel like I could relate to people.
I went through a very difficult stage in my life just after I discovered this amazing programme, I know that I couldn't have coped without it! Many people cannot understand how a simple tv "teen drama" could do so, but as I'm sure many on here have experianced, it can!! I am so grateful to the writters, the actors, to everyone who was involved in the creation of MSCL!
I have every episode on tape and watch them now and again! Each time I watch them I gain a new apprieciation of it! Like an onion peel, you can peel each layer off to reveal something else, something hidden from you before! I think that it was a good thing for it to have ended when, and how it did? Maybe it would have lost something if it would have continued? Maybe it wouldn't hit people so much if it didn't end in that way! To me it is ingenious!! I am currently writting and episode twenty for the fan-fiction page, how many of us have actually done that? Maybe not for a website, maybe we haven't even written it down, but unlike every other programme on tv we get to finish it!!
MSCL, is far from dead! Thanks to the wonderful people who continue to maintain this fabulous site! Thank you to all those who do so! I have read through some of these comments here and I know some of you (one in particular hello Mohini my love ;)) And I feel so gratful that I am able to be intouch with other fans of such an amazing programme, thank you to everyone! - #977genevieve from ny, ny us wrote on Friday, 04 January 2002:i remember first seeing my so called life the summer i turned 11 and it became my life i was angela chase in some weird way even though the characters were older than i but i watched it religously till it was canceled and i remember screaming at my tv the night i knew i would never see it again i was watching the last episode i just knew it would never come back it was just too great of a show i taped that last episode and for the past 7 years have watched that last episode all the time recently i was at my cousin's house and i had found an old tape of her's in her room with my so-called life vol 1 written on it and i was soo excited that i asked her to borrow it and she said sure u can have and u know what i have the box set out in the garage u can have that too so i have the two box sets they released and it 's like gold to me i'm so in love with this show i spent three days watching the episodes and obsessing how great the show was and how i wish i could have grown up with it adolescene would have been
slightly easier - #976Frédérique from Paris, France wrote on Friday, 04 January 2002:I just read some of the messages and I am amazed to see there's so many people who love MSCL. If I described the way I love it, my message would be just like all the others, so I'll just say that I got crazy too at the first sight (I still remember the scene: ep17 "Betrayal" when Angela helps Rayanne rehearsing and they both cry); I screamed too when I realized it was cancelled (I even wrote to complain to the channel); and I'm here tonight too to tell the whole world I did love, I do love and I will always love MSCL.
Thank you very much to the persons who take care of this homepage because it's really well done , and THANK YOU FOR TRYING AGAIN AND AGAIN TO GET MSCL ON DVD!!
I know it's hard to get some stuff from MSCL in the USA, then guess how difficult it is when you're in France : it's IMPOSSIBLE!! It makes me so angry!! - #975jessica from Vancouver, canada wrote on Wednesday, 02 January 2002:i am too overwhelmed! why haven't i thought to seek out
the most honest tv show of all time sooner, via the
net?!!! I'm just so excited and need to roam a bit more
through this crazy jungle of intricate facts and rehash
those wonderful memories! MY SO-CALLED LIFE is the
only show which both my mom and i watched together,
religiously, and i was only in grade four. As profound as
the following comment may seem, i must honestly say
this show has certainly changed MY so-called life, as
well as the genre of adolescent tv series'. now that i'm
16 i can feel so much more of what was being
translated. i feel like the angela crew are my best
friends. it's such a beautiful show! i'm getting
emotional. i must go rent an episode from the local
video store.
à bientot! - #974Adam from Rohnert Park, CA wrote on Tuesday, 01 January 2002:Hello everyone! Im so proud of this site, and so proud of eveyone else. Im glad the people at MSCL.com are tying to do what they can to get is damn DVD out! It makes me angry that BMG is being a bunch of BUTT HEADS! I would use other words..but you know. First of all, MSCL was a big hit among all of us and others, touched our lives, hearts and minds. Yes, MSCL came late, DVD's were not on the HIGH in 2000. But now they are the wave of the future, VHS is down to $5.00 dollars, with no bonus features and not the same picture quality. After playing VHS a million times, they get all warped and sound funny etc. DVD's have special features, awesome menus! Great Picture quality, and you can play it as many times as you want. I just got the First MSCL DVD. On this dvd are previews to Disc 2 and Three, HELLO??!! WHERE DID THE OTHERS GO? this is associated to what I just said, dvds were new to the market at that point and now are selling way better than ever. My so Called Life, does something to me, my life wouldnt
be the same without that show, many people have heard of it, and say how they love it, but never got the chance to see all of the episodes. I love the cast of the show, the morals, Angela Chase's emotions, thoughts, feelings. I watch that show whenever I feel down, or lost, or just need some of her words of wisdom. To the people of BMG, PLEASE, dont let all these episodes, we ALL want, to just sit in your damn whearhouse and do nothing. Its such a waste, and completly unfair and selfish, especially to the people such as myself who want them. I know it wasnt a big selling before, but I was still young then, as were others, And Im signed up to the pre order list. I wish Claire Danes or other cast members could please help us, and communicate to whom-ever, that we would all really like to have the only 19 episodes on DVD. I dont mean to come across as a jerk or what have you, but..all of this is true to me, and this show I will love as long as I live. Im going to do whatever it takes to let my friends and othe
rs know about this petition and have them sign as well.
Much love to eveyone,
-Adam
ps. Im going to let people know on my site about this

Was re-vamping my website and came across the link, (which will NEVER be removed from my site as long as THIS site exists,) and had "come home" for a little while and check it out. Any old-timers around here anymore? From the old SAVE MSCL crew? Anybody that went to the Juliana Hatfield concert in Austin? Ahhh, memories. Like the corners of my mind....
- #969Deborah from CA wrote on Saturday, 08 December 2001:MSCL is my all time favorite show. I was only 19 when the series originally aired, so all the angst of my high school years was fresh in my mind and Angela brought it all back. My version of Jordan had the same teenage boy problems of not communicating, not committing, not admitting that he had emotional feelings for me, and yes we broke up over sex. Talk about deja vu. When I watched Angela and Jordan's breakup conversation in the hallway of her house and Jordan started talking about his car while Angela's heart was breaking, I was in shock because I remember a similar conversation in my life.
This show is still a part of my life to this day. My sister and I can't hear the Violent Femmes without talking about MSCL. Once every few months we have our own marathon - we get out all the tapes and watch them all weekend. The show touched my life and helped me understand that I wasn't the only one who felt all those emotions.
If only MTV would air the episodes again! Fox Family is too concerned with their version of "values" and apparently that translates to not showing anything involving sex when they rerun the episodes. Give me a break! We're all faced with it sooner or later so we shouldn't let kids think that they are freaks (as Jordan so eloquently phrased it). If Fox Family stopped to think about it, they would see that MSCL could be a good influence on kids. Angela didn't give in to Jordan's constant pressure to have sex!
Due to my obsessive love for MSCL, I have surfed the web in search of a fansite worthy of the show. As a result, I have seen LOTS of half-assed tributes. This website, however, equals the show in its detail, complexity, and quality. It took me a few days to go through most of the website (excluding the extensive fan fiction section which will take me most of the rest of my life to finish). The webmaster and contributors obviously love the show as much as we do, and we fans, in turn, love the webmaster and contributors for providing such an amazing fansite. THere is no stone left unturned here - if there is anything you ever wanted to know about MSCL, it is definitely here. The music section and the transcripts are great, the quizzes are challenging (and I mean that in a good way!), and Angela's World kicks ass! Thanks for all the hard work. - #968Nicole Stison from Bangor, ME USA wrote on Friday, 07 December 2001:I love My So-Called Life!!! Its absolutally my fave. show of all time!! I swear im not lying.

The show just expresses what I wanna say and this site makes me how great the show is. I miss the show a lot and thanks to this site that reminds me the great memories of it.
I really love the video clips in the site here. You know, I replay the finale a thousand times 'coz I'm deeply in love with Brian and I'm touched by the final scene between Angela and him.
Thanks to those who have contributed to this site. I think you guys make lots of fans of this show to have a place to gather together and share their feelings on MSCL.
I love you guys!!!

This is a great page. I love MSCL and I think, it´s still the best show about teenagers (and their families) ever!!!
I´m still sad, that there are only 19 episodes, but maybe this is one reason why MSCL is so unique? In any case greatr storylines, great characters and great actors!!!
I miss only one thing here: would be great to get more information about people like Delia, Corey or Abyssinia. I think they are also a reason, why the show was so good. So please give a bit more space to these characters and actors...
bye
Hanna - #945Celia wrote on Saturday, 15 September 2001:I've only seen a few episodes of MSCL, 'cause when it used to be on, I didn't even know it existed, I mean, I'm only 15 NOW, so I wouldn't really have cared back then. But my little sister is a Claire Danes fan and she got one of the box-sets for Christmas one year, and now I'm hooked! This show is so good, but I can't really identify, only because my life is so different than those depicted on the show, for one, I don't go to school, and for another, I don't act all hostile to my parents and stuff, so I guess maybe my attraction is the differences, and the high school world I'll never know. Because although some people watch it to relate, I guess I watch it to see how life could've been... I guess. Anyways, I really like the website, possibly the best on the web! :) See ya around.

Seeing this site brings back those wonderful memories. It is my all-time favourite T.V. show.I'm 18 years now and it came at the perfect time for me to worship it. I must add that I'm from Trinidad(a small island in the Caribbean) and I recently moved to toronto. Those were the happiest days of my life while watching this show. I was surrounded with my high school friends at the time and was in a small relatinship with a guy that changed my life.My best friend who was also from high school with me and friends since '94 named her baby boy after Jared Leto; "Jared" and I didn't have a vcr at that time so i recorded as much as could have in a cassette through the mic from my radio recorder.I was so in to that show and nothing ever came close after that. I also wrote a poem inspired from that episode with the "liberty lit." and that substitute teacher and handed it in for english class. Those are just a few crazy things I did at that time and even now I'm writing this here after so long. I just can´t get enough! =) - #939Dawn Harvey from Essex, England wrote on Tuesday, 28 August 2001:My so-called life has to be just the most amazing programme that i have ever seen. I was 15 when i first saw it in 1995 and 6 years on at 21 i still love it just as much, if not more so. I most relate to Angela, but the thing about that programme that made it so good is that you can relate to all of the characters. I also had alot in common with a lot of Sharons storylines too. Even now if i have a problem with something, i can think back to a quote or scene from the show and it will help me sort things out. I never got into any of the other teen shows, as none of them could or will ever be able to come close to how i feel about MSCL.
Out of the whole 19 episodes though, the one thing i could never understand is how Angela would rather go to geometry than sit in a car with jordan.
e-mail me if u feel as strongly about the programme as i do. I would love to hear from people, as most people around where i live can't even remember the programme let alone understand the fasination i still have with it.

Iva - #936jasna from Skopje, Macedonia wrote on Saturday, 25 August 2001:i am glad it just turned out to be the birthday of the my-so-called-life. oddly enough, i am from macedonia, europe - the country that is now often on the front-pages, being on the limb of war. and i am 32, i even have 2 kids, but when i see mscl, i am still completely overwhelmed (i was 27 when i first watched it). There was a rerun of the series here, and it just ended yesterday. And i feel like crying, wishing that somehow it does not end, or that it is, at least, rerun again. I have never identified with anything this strong - not with music, or any movie, or series. At first i thought i was recreating my teenage years - and i recognized the ryanne in my life, and the brian, and the catalano in my life (although he was not as gorgeous as j. leto) ... and i was, of course, the angela. But i got to realize that, in a way, i still am. that i am still waging war between the good and the bad, the right and the wrong, only to realize that there are no such things, that life is to complex to be simplisticall
y classified, and that, as angela said - everything is so strange that it is even beautiful.
I can not get over the fact that my video had to be broken just when the rerun was on, but then - this strange coincidence that i am posting this at the very date of mscl’s birthday, gives me hope that there will be another rerun, and that i will tape it to show my two sons how do the real girls think (even when they are my age), and that they are not alone in this ever-more-beverly-hillsish shallow world, and that the face (the world) without make-up is much more wonderful that a retouched-photograph of a model with an artificial smile.
thank you for the authenticity, for the truth and for the feeling in the series. I do not think i will ever get over it or become less addicted, even if i do not have a chance to see it again.
this incoherent blabbing may sound more like jordan catalano than angela chase - but anyhow - A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, MY SO-CALLED-LIFE, and i wish that at least this web-site stays here forever, as a memento of all the feelings of the authors and the actors, and all the feelings of many generations worldwide that found so much in the fact that someone else is having so-called life. - #935Jude from Belfast, Northern Ireland wrote on Tuesday, 21 August 2001:Hi everyone!!! I'm at work and I've just spent the whole day roaming round this website - I have to say it's one of the best websites I've ever visited and has everything anyone would want to know about MSCL, which just happens to be my all time favourite TV show. I've also noticed that there are quite a few UK fans out there - hi everyone!! I totally understand how hard it is to get the shows over here, but finally, after almost 5 years waiting, it looks like my collection will be completed very shortly and then I plan to have a big "MSCL" day - can't wait - you're all invited :) !! - finally, on a less pleasant note, I'd like to warn all MSCL fans out there to be wary when purchasing copies of MSCL episodes from people - I attempted this before, through a person I actually got in contact with through this site (I'm sorry to say) , who had actually signed this guestbook, and she conned me out of $60 - I also discovered that she did the same thing to many people on yahoo auctions - her name is Teri Moser,
so do not buy from her (last time I checked, she had a -7 rating on yahoo, all from people she'd conned out of MSCL sets) - sorry for that, but I just wanted to warn you all, I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it as well. That said, on a lighter note, I hope you are all keeping the MSCL faith going, and if anyone out there would like to e mail me (esp if you're from the UK!) I'd love to hear from you. - jude :) - #934Marie from Hamburg, Germany wrote on Sunday, 19 August 2001:Hey, I´m a german girl and this is the best site I have ever visited!! I was a confused, angst-ridden 15-year-old sophomore when this show debuted in 1994. It was a show that was very similar to my life, and sometimes a little too similar that it was scary. I was devastated when the show was axed from ABC. Now at 22, it's fun to look back and see how life was at 15. I still own some shows on tape from when the show aired originally on ABC and it's strange to hear Tom Irwin (Graham Chase) saying, "Stay tuned for scenes from the season FINALE of My So-Called Life here on ABC" on the next to last episode. I am still missing some episodes and am hoping that BMG will release the DVD Boxed set soon. Anyways, thanks for letting me share my MSCL memories.

Here I've met Joan, from Spain too, and we write each other. Really, yesterday I was watching a TV show about Party of Five; and I wonder, if a TV show like that, with no audience at first, could have a second chance, and MSCL didn't; above all if MSCL deserved a second, a third and a fourth chance. It's amazing. Just this. I love MSCL, it will live forever in our minds, in our soul, if we just remember it for all of our lives. BYE! ANA

If any Spanish fan reads this: go to channel "Club Super 3" on Via Digital, Saturdays and Sundays ay 20:30. The company is showing MSCL again and again, the full season (19 episodes) more than one time.
The show had already been released in "Canal +" on Summer of 1005, but I didn't record all of them. Now its my time.

Best writing, best acting, best at portraying realism. Because when I watch My So-Called Life, I'm watching MY life. I am Angela, and my new friends Nicole and Mike are Rayanne and Rickie (Nicole's kind of a bad influence on me), my ex-best friend is Sharon, I even have a pseudo-boyfriend like Jordan Catalano. . . words can't even express my feelings towards this show. Now I'm 22 and I have just watched the 17 episodes out of the 19 I managed to tape last time it was aired in the UK...I love it! It is so easy to relate to it even now....and after 6 years I have finally found out (through the MSCL websites) what 'THAT' song was from the scene where Angela and Jordan finally got together... and of course I went straight out and bought the Buffalo Tom album (and have been playing track 9 ever since!) LONG LIVE MSCL........ we have a lot to thank you for!

- #909ANA from MADRID, SPAIN wrote on Tuesday, 05 June 2001:Oh God! If I have to say in a nutshell what I feel when I watch "self-esteem" again... I have the last 8 chapters on tape, here in Spain it was not very succesful but I remember every word that was said, above all that "why are you like this?...like how you are". I was about 16 when it was shown here, and I had (and have) the same strange world than hers, so real, so horrible and so difficult. I think that because of this I felt so absolutely identified with Angela Chase, and I started to admire Claire Danes so much.
It helped me to solve some of my problems, inner problems full of loneliness and shame. I wanted to be like Angela, and I still dream on meeting a Jordan Catalano someday to full my life with problems.
So, a weak ago, I found this site, and I felt the same again, and I back to sing that song of Buffalo Tom in self-esteem, and all of my sadness is gone, and I wonder how someone can make something like this.
I've cried a lot reading the original scripts, I was used to listen to them in spanish, it's amazing what this serie has made with me and with all of us, I'm glad I'm ot the only one, I hope not to be the only one, and I'm sure there are gonna be new fans soon.
This site is amazing, so complete, that I've found everything I was looking for. Thanks to those who created it.

The following year during the holiday it shown again, I watched it again.
Durning that period I was depressed and MSCL got into a state of happiness.
Then the following year it wasn't there, i looked year but it never appeared.
5 years later of trying to work out what this tune I was occasionally humming was, a song that made me happy brought me out of sadness.
Whilst looking for blank tape I discover "My So-Called Life" on one with the episode the tune came from.
It was the holding hands scene from Self Esteem.
My mystery finally solved and my love of MSCL sparked.
Now with access to the internet and satelite tv, would hunt for info related to MSCL.
I had to wait another year till it appear again on UK television, this time is was ready.
Nearly 3 months laters I had gotten every episode on tape.
Now almost 22 and when ever I feel sad and can't watch the tapes. I logon to www.MSCL.com and I'm striaght there in state of happiness.
"My So-Called Life" is part of me, that's what make it special. - #905Hilde Olsen from Bodø, Norge wrote on Saturday, 26 May 2001:I love Jordan Catalano...Jared leto.
