based on stories and characters created by Winnie Holzman

Waiting in the dark for my life to begin
Sitting with Brian Krakow in a tree
No one reads by flashlights in trees anymore
Just Brian Krakow ... and me.

And we wait like worn-out fishermen,
With our nets, and our knives,
And we watched her beloved ride away in the dark
Towards better loves, and better lives.

And he helps me with Geometry
And I try to help him understand
How his true love could walk away
With his heart in her hands.

I’ve been left behind before
And I know this place far too well
But this time Brian Krakow’s here
Sharing his flashlight with me in this Hell

And it’s nice to have a shoulder to cry on
I know it will all be okay now.
No one ever falls in love for real anymore
Just me... and Brian Krakow.
