Brian rides home, storms up to his room and slams the door.
Int.--Brian's room
Brian reclines on his bed, staring into space, deep in
thought.
BRIAN--(VO) I can't believe how pathetic my life is. It
must be, like, a universal law that nothing can ever
go my way.
Goes over to his window, sees Angela and Jordan still
embracing.
BRIAN--(VO) Nothing that matters, anyway.
Silently, Brian begins to cry.
BRIAN--(VO) It's not as if I expected Angela Chase to
actually, like, fall in love with me. But she
doesn't even seem to care who wrote the letter
anymore! I thought, maybe, she would at least begin
to understand. To at least soften. Maybe to go
back to being my friend again.
Brian goes to his desk and picks up a book.
BRIAN--(VO) Even this stupid thing with the play! Naturally,
the class chooses "Romeo and Juliet", which is like
the worst play Shakespeare wrote!
We now see the cover of the book Brian picked up.
BRIAN--(VO) I'm probably the only one who voted for
"Richard III"!
Brian opens the book and reads a passage out loud:
BRIAN: "And therefore, since I cannot prove a lover
To entertain these fair well-spoken days,
I am determined to prove a villain
And hate the idle pleasures of these days."
Brian closes the book, considering.
BRIAN--(VO) I HAVE to tell Angela how I feel! I can't let
this stupid obession destroy me! I can't let my pain
turn into...
Brian looks at the book.
BRIAN--(VO) ...something horrible!
Brian gets up, tosses the book aside, and leaves his room,
resolving to confront Angela Chase.
