brian: and even though i had nothing real, i could at least hope. i could dream that it's possible. but making it... real, and *failing*. i would have nothing left at all, not even false hope.

angela pulls her hand out of his grip.

angela: why do you say things like that?

brian: angela... it's not to say...

angela: so, what? you don't even want to try?

brian: no! that's not what i mean...

angela: then... what?

brian: i'm just really... it's just that...

angela: brian. what?

brian: i'm scared. this scares me. i don't know what to say, or do.

angela: do i... do i scare you?

brian: yes! you scare me!

angela looks surpised and amused
angela:i scare you?

brian: i mean... it's not just you, it's the whole... situation.

angela: so what now?

brian: i really don't know.

angela: well. how about... why don't you kiss me?

brian stares.
brian: kiss... you? now?

angela laughs slightly
angela: if you don't want to...

brian smiles awkwardly, and steps up closer to her. she watches him. he tries to relax a little. she closes her eyes, like a child in a game. brian starts to kiss her, awkward, short and light. gradually he relaxes and the kiss darkens.
