grunge?
Well it was 1994

Kaytee Bodle: Girl With Guitar http://girlwithguitar.0catch.com (audio, video, tabs, lyrics, etc.) Angela even mentioned "Stone Temple Pilots" as one of her favorite bands in "Father Figures". STP were besides "Pearl Jam" (and I think "Soundgarden") one of the few Seattle-based Grunge bands who had international success. I was hooked to their first two albums "Core" and "Purple" ... still two of my favorite cds today.
BTW: the other bands Angela mentioned were Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Porno for Pyros and ... Billie Holliday. But I guess the authors only selected these bands as Angela's favorites in that scene because of their weird names (well except for Billie Holliday ![]() Definitely grunge. Definitely reminiscent of 1994. It is amazing how much plaid we wore back then!
Our discussion of all the plaid: http://www.mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1870 "I have all these dreams where I know exactly what to say. And you tell me, you know, that you forgive me."
I don't know if they were chosen just for the weird names, those were some of the biggest bands of the time in that (not-exactly-correct-probably-shouldnt-even-be-called-one) genre. Smashing Pumpkins were huge at that time, as was Rage, Porno for Pyros was fairly large too (couldn't stand that band...never could be what Jane's was, and if I never hear that goddamn "we'll make great pets" song again it will be too soon <shudder>).
I don't remember Rage being that big at the time. I remember them getting big and thinking, "Yeah, I knew of them back when MSCL used to be on."
Oh, and Alice In Chains was definitely the best grunge band. - Jim
