Per the AP website individual writer's email addresses and phone numbers are not available to the public. However David Germain is a staff writer for Los Angeles as a "Movie Writer". The main press release email address is pr@ap.org. The phone number for the general desk appears to be 212-621-1600. If someone wants to call them and try to figure out how to forward a message to the LA office that'd be nice.

Done.

Re: My So-Called Life box set DVD @ AnotherUniverse.com

You may find the following "My So-Called Life" webforum of interest: http://www.mscl.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=10

These people are rather upset about the box set, for various reasons, but mostly because they paid many months ago and have been apparently put off every time they ask about the status.

Ross is banking on most of us cancelling our order once Jason sends his mass emailing on wednesday. Since, Ross has at least 30 days to give a refund, our cancellations won't hurt him. In fact, they may help.

So, he gets to keep our money for 30 days while raking in money from new orders. 30 days may be just enough time to get BMG to do another production run and get the bonus disc made (notice the press release doesn't mention the lunchbox). And with all the cancellations, AU will have fewer sets to order from BMG.

It's very dirty, but it may just work.
Don't forget this... if a bunch of new people order and a bunch of us old timers cancel, then ross will be increasing au's profit per unit by $15. Plus, au wouldn't owe the new people gift certificates or free shipping.

Well hell, it seems that all is fair in business (at least from what I've seen on this forum the past while). So what's the problem? Good on him.

got my dad on the case (he's a professional in dealing with companies), and he'll have the CEO on the phone before he lets them hang up with him, i'll have him post a full report of what happens when he's through, he seems to be making a lot of progress so far, i think he's after Ross's mobile number right now, the guy can't hide forever

more later...

The problem is we shouldn't have to cancel. Those DVDs were pre-paid for by us. So where has AU stuck the money, if it's not in BMG's pockets? My guess is they used it for other things over the last few months, thinking they would be able to pay it back, and have now found themselves in a situation with a bunch of angry customers who want their DVDs, and no way to pay for the promised merchandise.

That's BAD business. And fraud.

I'm impressed by your ability to give AU the benefit of the doubt. Can you maybe explain what you've seen that makes you think they deserve it?

(Incidentally, I'm not cancelling my order yet. I'm still sticking it out in the hopes of getting the promised bonus items, and because my bank already told me if AU does not deliver, they WILL investigate, and I can get refunds on my original charges. I also filed for a credit on my double charge, after repeated attempts to have it resolved by AU failed.)

If he's still looking for it, send me a private message. I maintain a rolodex of all numbers I've ever had to call, and that's one of them.

The reason the number has not been given out/posted is because it could end up an issue of harrasment. I would say it is best to keep the contact through official company numbers.

Hi everyone,

I really don't see anything sinister in that AP review. Just a movie writer writing about a big upcoming DVD. Like the majority of people who ordered from AU, most don't read here and don't know what is going on. The reviewer didn't.

I doubt AU had anything to do with that story. Remember, Entertainment Weekly months ago talked about AU having the exclusive. It really isn't all that known that it is now available on other sites.

So, while AU may benefit from it (that is even if this story is picked up, not all AP stories are), I don't see it as some big plan to defraud others.

Initially Exclusive

Post by bluemmsrule » Oct 15th 2002, 10:57 pm

Early posts on this thread mention AU having this set "initially" exclusive. I do not feel that one week of us getting it early counts as exclusive. But, I still have not gotten my set and as of now it appears as though I won't get it at all....unless I buy from Amazon. I have been waiting on AU until now, I guess because I am naive. However, I will agree with Jason, tomorrow is the deadline. If I don't hear something, I will cancel and order from Amazon.

The guy I spoke to also said that Jason has been "having trouble with BMG" and "doesn't get along with anybody" and that anything he says should be "taken with a grain of salt"

I still am trusting Jason on this but still feel in the dark as to whether or not to expect my order from AU to come through.
Bobis111, I suggest you phone BMG on the other hand to verify whether CMI is talking the truth. You should be able to predict CMI would tell you such kinda thing before you phone CMI. So the way to prove whether CMI or Jason is talking about the truth is to ask third party.

Speaking as someone who has an outstanding order with AU and isn't sure that he will be receiving it...I would appreciate it if everyone would stop trying to sway everyone else to amazon.com =[ If you have been double-charged and are fed up with AU, then by all means switch, but there is no reason to think that any of the new orders will be double-charged...if anything, a lot of new orders will help get this set out faster. I don't think you're protecting them from anything, just putting those of us with AU orders in more of a bad situation  Just my 2c...
