Late Night Update for 10/10Re: Time to alert the media? Not a bad idea! Maybe just the fear factor itself of getting the press involved is enough to make AU clean up their act and get us what they promised. Re: Time to alert the media? In case you haven't noticed, hard-nosed journalists no longer exist. ![]() However, I'd love to see Ross hiding his face and yelling "no comment!" while being chased down by a cameraman. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Time to alert the media? Now there's something to put on the bonus disc!! ![]()
I have new question that maybe Jason or somebody else can answer:
Back in March when we were told that we had to pay the full amount up front because their credit card processor couldn't keep claims open for the amount of time AU needed to get the DVD's finished. In retrospect was that really true, or was that a deceptive lie to get our money so they could keep their company (AU) a float? Does anybody know the answer to this? Maybe this was Ross's very first lie. In retrospect, I believe this to be a lie. I simply think they wanted to collect the money up front.
Compared to AmazonI'd say they took our money to stay in business. Amazon.com have a real approach - they don't bill until they ship. They have had their financial woes but they always guarantee shipment. I've never had a problem with them and thus they'll get my order for the DVDs.
Regards James Re: Compared to AmazonHere's my crystal ball speculation on all of this:
The discs were going to ship in June, so they got all the money ahead of time, so they could pay all involved in advance, and ship it to everyone. As delays began in terms of rights to footage and art etc., AU increasingly needed funds for other things, so they tapped into the MSCL coffer to pay the bills, figuring they'd get the money back when they sold other stuff on the site. They didn't sell enough other stuff on the site, so when the time finally came to pay for the MSCL stuff, they'd used up too much of the MSCL money, and had to start stalling in hopes of getting more money. I'm not sure if the double or triple charges were on purpose or not, but it would be interesting to see a list of dates of overcharges matched up with dates when AU spent money out...to Jason, the lunch box folks etc....to see if there's a pattern there. My double charge was on July 3. All those extra "authorizations" are also a quick way to make creditors think you have more cash on hand than you do. Re: Compared to AmazonThere's a little detail in this double-charge-conspiracy-theory, that I don't want to hide. Some people apparently weren't charged for the first time at this date. I was one of them. I was first time charged in Mid-August. So if they want to fraud the people with double and tribble charges, why haven't they charged some people for the first time? I don't want to go into defense for AU, I'm scared of all this events, too, but I think this detail shouldn't be unmentioned. Patty to Graham: You always buy the cat nicer food than I do.
Ok, Ross has had a week, he hasn't posted a single update for ten days and we're still getting conflicting information about when these things will finally ship. Isn't it about time those few of us who still have orders get an update??? Well, I certainly haven't got a refund (and not through want of trying - seven e-mails and a very expensive international phone call so far). Until everyone who was wrongly overcharged get's their money back, I would say that the issue is outstanding and I would challenge anyone who is still owed money by AU to dispute that.
