jason..what would you do?

Post by north_Star98 » Oct 7th 2002, 10:35 pm

would you cancel your order from au and save lots of money?

or

would you wait it out on au and get the set from them with the bonus disc and lunchbox?

LOL. Trying to get me in trouble, I see.

My serious answer?

I would ask myself if I wanted the collectible version or the regular version, and whether the extras were worth the difference in price and the wait (in the case of the bonus material and lunchboxes). I would look at the experiences I had with the retailers offering the different sets and base my decision on my own situation not on what Jason told me to do.

I wonder what Ross' response to the same question would be, if he just for a moment forgot about the company line. :)

On second thought...never mind. Post removed...That was a post that was nothing but an instigation to a fight. Image

Note: it was not aimed at Ross, Jason, or anyone in this thread. Use your imagination.

I am using my imagination. That's what scares me. Image

I paid $99.98 (plus postage which IIRC is $4.95) for a pre-order of an exclusive DVD set, plus bonus disc and lunchbox.

Given that the sets STILL HAVE NOT SHIPPED I suspect it may turn out not to be a pre-order, after all, since it doesn't look like I'll get it before general release.

Given that Amazon.com are selling the set, it's not exclusive either.

Given that Amazon.com are delivering shipping free, the postage (I believe $4.95) is a loss.

So I have to ask myself: is the lunchbox (which even AU admit we are unlikely to actually store the discs in) and the bonus disc, together worth $32.49?

The lunchbox is throwaway, as far as I'm concerned. I guess it's nice to have it but no loss at all if I don't. So, is the bonus disc worth $32.49 - half again the price of the set from Amazon? To put it another way, do I believe the bonus disc is equal in worth to the first nine episodes of the series?

Fat chance.

AU and Ross, you have some serious, serious, SERIOUS work to do if you don't want me and everyone else to cancel their orders. I can save some serious money, and serious hassle, by going with Amazon.com. I think it is entirely reasonable to demand a reduction in price to match Amazon.com. That would then mean the bonus disc and lunch box are free; again, reasonable given that it is no longer a pre-order and no longer exclusive. You give, you take. Fair's fair. The other option, of providing more bonus stuff, is meaningless if we have to wait any longer.

I'd be seriously interested to find out how many fair trading, false advertising, and fraud laws have been broken here. I'd be far more interested just to get my DVDs without being ripped off.

What Jason would do is up to him. I'm about, ooh, this far from cancelling my involvement in the entire debacle and going with Amazon.
