HELP REQUESTED: LETTER TO BMG

Post by pgh kenny » Oct 6th 2002, 9:30 am

[Note: Originally I was hoping to write a letter to BMG from a group of us. I don't really think that is going to work, but if you have opinions about what you would say in a letter to BMG please share them. I am going to write a personal letter from just myself.]

I would like to send a factual and well argued letter to BMG Special products stating our position on what has happened. I do not wish to write an inflammatory letter or a letter blaming anyone. However, since BMG is the producer of the set, I think it is important that we communicate the fan point of view in a unified voice.

Please review these links and then post your ideas. This letter will be worth our while. We invested in this project and we should communicate our position to the rights holder of the show.

read the links, they seem fine to me. in both, there realy wasnt a spacific date of the release was there? ok, so this has been dragging on for awhile, at least its happening.
so, is this letter just going to say that we are diapointed in the way there hadling all this, or "take my preorder and shove it"?
dont get me wrong here, im not trying to put it down, or be a pacafist. what is this realy going to do? if there having problems, there having problems. its not like we can go there, man the DVD press and pack the boxes. i could be wrong though.
"...and I said ' oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, what a feeling'"

Okay so this doesn't look like it is going to work. Instead, I am going to send a personal letter from myself to BMG expressing my own opinion.

My idea behind the letter will be to communicate that I am disappointed that the discs that a dedicated group of fans pre-ordered in February will be available to the mass public audience at a lower price at the same time as we receive our discs. I am disappointed that the general public has been given an opportunity to pre-order at a greatly reduced price before we even receive the discs we paid a premium price for. I am disappointed that some fans who pre-ordered at $115 were mislead into believing that the discs minus the bonus would not be quickly available at a reduced rate.

BMG may not be at fault, but they are a player in this and I would like them to be aware of my opinion.

I completely agree - it's just that I do not have time right now to work on a letter or to help. But please post your draft; I'd like to sign it

BMG could have waited a few months longer and to say that we should have the DVDs since August while they are still producing them isn't a real excuse IMHO.
