Just canceled my AU DVD orders

Post by Sameritech » Oct 5th 2002, 9:55 am

Just notified AU I wanted to cancel my 4 MSCL DVD preorders and it felt so good. This is perfect justice. Not only do I get my sets, I get them cheaper (who cares about a lunchbox or "Bonus Disc") and I deprive AU of the profits they would have received from my order. When you consider how much Amazon is selling the set for, AU was really ripping people off on price even with the lunchbox and bonus disc. I won't even discuss the fact AU has had our money and in many cases, more than they should have had, and have collected interest off our money for 7 months now.

If you people are smart, you'll order from Amazon and cancel with AU as a way to payback AU for the poor service.

Let us know how long it takes for you to get your money back from AU.

If its a week, it might be worth it, but it seems like they don't like letting go of money...

I am thinking about Pre-ordering an additional set from Amazon, and see which one ships first.

I sent them an email on thier "contact us" page and told them I wanted to cancel the orders. I told them the order number, charge amounts and dates of the charges.

Since AU refuses to refund charges in a resonable amount of time, I also called my credit card company and disputed the charges. I can do this since they DID charge my card and they DID NOT deliver any merchandise. It's been 4 months since the originally release date and they have sent just one email since then. The credit card posts a credit to my account (including any possible interest) and mails a letter to me where I verify the charges, amounts, dates, etc. and I simply sign to confirm I did not receive the merchandise. Real easy process and it prevents you from having to wait until AU bothers to take the time to post the refund. Funny how they can charge cards within 24 hours but seem to have problems returning money in a reasonable amount of time. At least Amazon doesn't take people's money without at least having the product ready to ship. They also keep their customers informed unlike AU.

Those of you that decide to stay with AU, GOOD LUCK. Based on AU's track record, you will no doubt have problems during the delivery process of the discs, lunchbox, and bonus disc phase. Get out while you still can.

Fool me once, shame on you
