Ross, while I appreciate your efforts and staying on top of responding to posts, rather than spending so much time on this board, why aren't you out there elbow deep in DVDs packing and shipping? I have a recommendation. A team of MSCL fans can help with the project on a volunteer basis to make sure it gets done faster!!! :D The faster these ship out, the faster you can go on vacation and forget about the whole thing.

I really do wish you all the best of luck cleaning up this mess and navigating your company through the storm. Believe me, I'm the first person to want all your problems to be solved so that I, and many others who are waiting (and irrate because they've been overcharged), can get the DVD. Again, I hope I see my MSCL DVDs before the new Kelly Clarkson album is released.

I don't mean to sound rude, but we have one guy (pretty much) who knows what's going on at AU who's actually is talking to us, and I'm totally supportive of and happy about that. It's not like he'd be able to get all that much done in the relatively small amount of time it takes to read through these posts every once in a while, anyway. Talk to us, Ross! Talk to us! :D

And where's AU going to ship from? Sacramento? That's only about an hour and a half drive from my house. And I don't have school or anything important coming up right now, so...

Seriously, though.

As soon as these hit my dock, most of us won't be getting much sleep as we pack and ship. Part timers from the stores will be working extra time in the warehouse, and more than a couple of spouses have volunteered to help as well.

I'll keep the staff in Pizza and Mountain Dew until the last DVD leaves the warehouse.

Get enough sleep that I don't get a box of pizza and Mountain Dew on my doorstep.
And if you do send me pizza, it better still be hot or I'll be expecting to see another refund on my CC bill! (Well, that's assuming my first two go through okay... :? )

And no anchovies.

I don't mean to sound rude, either, but SERIOUSLY, what's the hold up?? I'm trying to get at the core of the reason why we don't have our DVDs right now. I could care less about anything else. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, I'm happy Ross is here interacting and trying to let us in on what's going on, but I have to wonder why the DVDs have been held up this long.

Not to sound rude, Dr. LemonBurn, but why don't you get in your car and visit Ross personally in Sacramento or wherever the discs are shipping out so that you won't have to wait for the mail. Unfortunately, I can't do that. I live all the way across the country. So, seriously... what's holding the discs up. :!:

Maybe you haven't searched around the forums enough to find out this fact, but BMG still hasn't shipped the disks to AU.

So bitching to ross over and over in multiple posts at this point is pointless.

Somewhere in these posts you'll find quite an explaination from Jason saying that since he only proofed the disks a few weeks ago, he pretty much KNEW BMG couldn't produce them in time for the 17th. So now we wait....

This obviously doesn't explain the wait in general, but isn't the immediate reason the discs aren't all pressed yet? What I meant was that until the time anyone at AU can actually start physically shipping the DVDs, I want some sort of contact with them.

I would if it would do any good, but do I actually believe they're waiting on BMG, and in that case, I don't know what I'd do there other than wait there. :? And if I thought something was actually going on, I would go down there and report to all you guys on what I saw. At this point, I don't think it matters where you are on the map; none of us can do anything to expedite the process.

But yeah. I'm pissed too. :x

Maybe if you searched around the forums you'd see that Jason specifically said the hold up isn't with BMG. So spouting nonsense in response to my frustration won't help matters much, either. Yes, we have to wait, but it's not BMG we're waiting for! As far as I can tell AU has the discs and haven't sent them out because they are trying to clear up billing errors and clean everything up and have it squared away before they send out the discs. That makes sense--they don't want to send out to people who have cancelled because they were disgruntled with the double billing fiasco. So what we may be waiting for is the billing to get straightened out--they can't ship without doing that--not BMG. So I have every right to bitch.

no. AU doesn't have the discs, but the delay cannot be placed on BMG. That is all I said. I had to promise to BMG to make sure that they are not blamed for things they are not responsible for. And they aren't.

I'd Rather My DVDs

We all have our priorities. The only time I'll be happy is when the post office puts the package containing the discs in my mail box. Until then, I have a right to my opinion as do you. While I respect your opinion, the bottom line of mine is  I'd rather have my DVDs.

Well, I still have a right to bitch, don't I? Jason, I bet you never counted on having hundreds of angry people arguing over a simple DVD set. I haven't lost my excitement over this project. That's why I feel so passionately about getting the set in the mail and I'm on these boards so often. The day I lose the excitement... that'll be the unfortunate day I cancel my order and say "&@!% it". I bitch because I still believe. Oh... the day I stop believing will be the saddest of all.

now I'm upset

Post by ms_gwyn » Sep 26th 2002, 3:46 pm

I ordered this set very early in the year. I expected delays and problems.

I got a little upset when no one at AU answered my emails, but I did (as with everyone else) updates from Jason and I understood the problems with clearances and such.

So I excercised patience, esp. when I got that huge charge on my CC for the rest of the amount of the set (in hindsight a very good thing).

I've been checking periodically in a state of waiting with no mean or frustrating feeling developing...just waiting.

So I come on the boards today for an update b/c I've been busy and it left my mind for a bit.

I'm glad that the DVDs are on their way to AU. I decided to call the number posted in the FAQ b/c I just wanted to make sure that my order was indeed what I expected it to be and I wanted my confirmation number, etc.

Now I'm angry, I was under the impression that I paid for everything back in the early months (Jan-April, if memory serves correctly). Its a good thing that I did call b/c I had to pay for S&H (9.00, btw) and the CC that I used earlier in the year is now invalid.

My question is this: Since AU at this moment does not have the DVDs, when they did arrive, would they have contacted me for a new number? I ask this b/c of all my other communications with them have gone unanswered.

I'm very happy that this is almost over and very greatful that I've not have the problems that others have had with this endeavor, but this is a tiny bit shady in my book. And I completely understand out S&H and all, but it still seems to be a little shady.

Ciao
Ms. Gwyn

OK, so Au doesn't have the discs, and BMG isn't the one to blame for that. Call me stupid, but I'm not getting it. Who exactly has the discs? BMG? Jason told me in an email that AU has paid for the discs, so what exactly is the problem? Why don't they have them yet? If this has already been addressed on this board and I missed it, I apologize. I'm just a bit confused over here... :?

my take is that the discs are in production, and that the delays up to this point should not be attributed to BMG.

so while AU is waiting on the discs from BMG, it takes a finite amount of time to manufacture the discs and BMG cannot wave a magic wand and have them produced faster. plus, i'm sure that one does not just dump 5,000 discs in the fed ex. there's freight shipping time from the plant to the AU warehouse.

obviously, i would love to know the exact details of what is going on, but I assume that a) jason doesn't want to burn bridges or burn any more bridges and b) probably he doesn't know much more that what he has said here.

delays...

Post by smackey » Sep 26th 2002, 6:16 pm

I believe the answer for the delay may be in this quote from Ross' Sept. 19 update:
Ross Rojek wrote:We are still waiting on BMG to finish the set. They had a couple of delays, and apparently didn't realize that we wanted the set to ship to us in a slipcase.
Perhaps the slipcases--and the apparent miscommunication that was involved--are the culprits?
