I purchased a DVD player ESPECIALLY for the MSCL discs. My collection is now building nicely:

There are many others I'd just love to own but money is tight and so can't go too mad. Collecting DVDs is addictive though - and highly enjoyable in a totally materialistic way.

MSCL fans should all appreciate creating something brilliant even though it's not commercial.

I'm a Data Processor/Operations Analyst, my wife is a Materials Facilitator. We both have worked for years in different departments at the same place: a major repair facility of computers, videogames, cellphones, and other PCB-based equipment. As you can imagine, it's not a bad double income. But I wouldn't call it "lucrative", either.

We simply keep up with our bills, don't buy beyond our means (for instance, our house is JUST RIGHT, and we only need 1 car), and that helps us find spare cash for our DVD fixes (we all like 'em, not just me...I'm just the worst one in the house!). We also ask for specific DVD titles as presents when Christmas comes along. In the meantime, I've also done about two dozen reviews for TVShowsOnDVD.com, so those discs were free. It adds up. I shop around for the lowest-price discs, and I don't mind sharing my research with other like-minded folks.

Everyone has a hobby they spend an insane amount of money on, viewed by others. Some folks do it with cars, others with comic books, others with collector plates or camera equipment or paintball. Gun collectors, I have found, spend a LOT more than I do. My hobby happens to be DVDs right now. In less than 10 years I'm sure it will be something else.

Today I bought the season collection of 24, the Die Hard Collection, the Pulp Fiction Special edition and Mosters Inc.

It's all research. Really. That's what I keep telling the bookkeeper.

Wow, you got some really good stuff today! Once you view them, I would love to hear your opinion, especially on the extras!

I saw 24 and Monsters Inc when I was at Costco but resisted the urge to put them in my cart. I'm working on this self control thing.

Grabbed 24, the now-OOP Sleepaway Camp 4-disc version with the Red Cross logo on it (the ARC got upset, so the box is gonna change), and a couple of Dr. Seuss discs for my son.

My wife got me an early Christmas present...the Space: 1999 mega-set!

I love her...
