dvd shipping price question

Post by Therese » Sep 15th 2002, 2:26 pm

Hi!
I´m thinking of ordering the mscl DVD boxed set from anotheruniverse. com, and I have a few questions...if anyone knows:

I live in sweden and I am having som problems understanding the shipping prices. Are the 18 dollar shipping (the page linked from the mscl page) price to sweden the one that I should count in with the 115 dollar of the dvd, or was that just if you ordered the dvd before a certain date? On the site it says that the average shipping internationally of items of the 115 dollar class is nearly 80 dollars!!! If it's that expensive (almost the price of the dvd itself) there is no way that I can afford to order it:( I am a student, and my economy is therefore not so great. 20 dollars shipping to sweden is about as much as I can afford! Please, anyone who knows?

I also wonder, since everyone here seems to have had great problems with anoteruniverse, should I try this at all? I really, really want this dvd, but I'm afraid to be doubled charged etc! Is there really no other place to order it from where people havn't had these kind of problems that I have heared about?

Thanks so much!
/Therese

If you buy it, just pay by an international money order. Then you won't have to deal with the hassle of overcharges.

As for the shipping stuff...someone else will have to help you with that. :)

Hi Therese,
I'm also from Sweden and I ordered the DVD box about two weeks ago.
I had the same problem as you with understanding the shipping prices. I thought that $80 was way too much, so I entered the free shipping option and figured that they'd just add $18 afterwards.
I figured wrong.
They added $80 to my order and I was not happy. I've sent them an e-mail asking about it, but so far no reply. If you want to I can let you know what they say when/if I do get a reply.

Of course you can do as somamoon suggests and pay by an international money order. Just check that you're really sure what amount it should say before you send it off. Then again, buying a money order will probably cost about $12, so you have to make up your mind if it's worth it.

Hi!
Thanks for the answers, both of you :)

-Marie (nice to talk to another swedish mscl fan), I would very much appreciate if you could tell me what they reply (if they do!). I think it's really bad if they charge 80 since the mscl shipping price to sweden is supposed to be 18...if that's not just for the pre-orders (but if you ordered that, they said that you could get the international shipping for 18 minus 6.95?)...I have tried to e-mail them myself to answer the question, but so far they have not replied...I just hope that they do!

Logically there is no way that it should cost 80 dollars (aka 800 SEK) to ship a dvd (even 4 dvd-s) to sweden! I hope it's wrong so I can get the dvd, since I really really love mscl and the vhs are all out of stock!
