... free shipping on the DVD set.

Refund the overcharges ASAP, and give us free shipping on the DVDs when they finally do ship.

You know... as sort of a 'we're sorry for the mess' gesture.

Thoughts?

Well, all the people who pre-ordered during the first phase were already promised free shipping on their DVD sets, so maybe a smiley face sticker on the packaging?

candygirl - good point. Maybe you could help clear something up for me, then? Exactly who gets free shipping? I pre-ordered this set, and was paid up in full by the time April rolled around and they charged me the second chunk ($80; $20 being the pre-order deposit paid well prior to that), and I coulda swore that free shipping was part of the deal. I called AU months ago and after a lot of runaround trying to get a hold of someone, I finally talked to somebody (name unknown) who told me that no, there's no free shipping (and he didn't seem to understand why I had that impression in the first place as "there was never such an offer").

Additionally, the snail mail I received much more recently (last month?) - I think everyone got this - also made reference to another charge to be made when the package actually ships (that charge being the shipping charge). So that only reinforced the notion in my head that I was incorrect in remembering a free-shipping offer.

If I'm actually due free shipping (which I thought originally I was), I would surely love for someone to clarify that for me (if for no other reason than to watch Murphy's Law kick in and find another erroneous charge from AU in about a month)...

from the "DVD NEWS" page of this site... >ahem<

"Q: Can you tell me the exact amount of the shipping costs?
A: The shipping fee for U.S. orders will be $5.95 + $1 insurance. If you placed your order before 03/01/02 11:59:00 Pacfic time, you will not be charged for shipping, and International orders will get $6.00 off the price of shipping. Just a way of saying thanks for the early orders!"

so...theoretically, it should be free, yes. but, who knows?

Someone still needs to clear this up: Exactly when and how will we be charged for shipping? I have seen the shipping costs in the DVD news section and I know about the free shipping for early orders (I didn't quite make it), but I have seen precious little about the how and when of shipping charges. I noticed something about foreign orders getting an e-mail with the shipping costs before the final release, yet so far no one outside the U.S. has mentioned such a notice. Will American orders get the same e-mail, or is the shipping to be charged automatically on the same credit card accounts that paid for the DVDs initially? Will there be confirmation that shipping has been paid? Most importantly, will these issues be resolved before the rapidly approaching Day Of Reckoning, Sept. 17?

Jason, Justin, Mike, Gord, Wade, Ross, Cletus, Charlene, Uncle Roy Bauer, anybody know about this?

I know I placed my order early enough to get the free shipping. But I'd bet that AU takes it upon themselves to charge me for shipping anyway. Oh joy! I have the privilege of going through the "fun" of getting AU to give me back my money again!
