AU DVD Arrived! Here's a picture.bmg did not want to clear any new art for this thing.
also, they shrinkwrapped each of the 5 amaray cases separately, as if it could be split up for individual resale if the box set bombed. i wish i could have made them understand that there was no risk here.
I was under the impression the box was a last minute afterthought since the lunchbox was supposed to be the 'packaging'. Come to think of it, do five dvd cases even fit in a regulation sized lunchbox? I can live with boring menu design... I would have been a lot more crushed if the original soundtrack were replaced with elevator Muzak.
It appears to be five attractive keep-cases, one for each DVD disk, and individually labeled -- perhaps to hedge their bets and allow for individual sale, perhaps to pick up on their original sales setup for the first three episodes on the initial disk.
I know I prefer to have each disk in its own case, to alleviate possible damage in handling. What nobody seems to have yet is the Another Universe extras. I'm waiting to see someone's visual evidence of their actually having that bonus interview disk (and the lunchbox, etc., which I don't really care much about) before I even consider paying a 110 percent premium to AU for it. Actually yeah 5 discs should fit in a lunchbox. If memory serves Serial Experiments Lain, an anime, was released in a limited edition set a while back of 4 discs in a lunchbox. So i think 5 would fit fine. I actually had the discs already and was able to find the lunchbox in Suncoast for 12 bucks ![]() I can live with boring menu design as well and i would have been pissed if the OST was replaced with crap. I just wish it looked a little more impressive. Especially after waiting so goddamned long for it. Boring design, no evidence of any decent extras, 230 bucks so far...i would expect them to have something to show for the wait and the amount of money spent all around on this thing. Greybird, I take it you were fooled by AU's deceptive advertising.
The bonus disc is not even done yet. The lunchbox is still either in hong kong or on a boat.
DVD ATLAST!!!One minute ago the UPS man just knocked on my door! I only have one thing left to do now that I have in my hands a long awaited MySo-Called Life DVD set, and that is to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU JASON!!!
![]() Mine arrived alsoJust another data point... mine arrived today (11/7/02) via UPS. I had to sign for it, so keep that in mind if you're not going to be home.
I wasn't one of those who was on the warpath. I only send two emails over the whole email, and neither got a reply. I haven't (yet) been charged anything beyond the original $20 deposit. I have a pollyannish hope that I'll actually get the bonus disk and lunchbox. (Actually.. just the bonus disk would be fine with me... I'm 34 years old and I work from home-What do I need a lunchbox for?) -- Mitch

Misled, perhaps. "Fooled" would apply if I'd actually ordered the thing, which I have not and probably never will. Their actions from the beginning have looked amateurish. (No fault of yours, Jason. They were a useful lever to get these discs out of BMG.) > The bonus disc is not even done yet. The lunchbox is still either in Hong Kong or on a boat. < Well, with how the West Coast ports are still stacked up, trying to deal with the 10 days of backlog when the longshoremen were locked out, I'd be surprised if those lunchboxes get unloaded before January. Who wants this silly lunchbox, anyway? Not teenagers, it's hardly kewl. Anyone older who's not a compulsive collector ... how many of them went for it? Sheesh, I carried those things in grade school. As for the bonus disc, let's face it ... somebody's going to make its full contents available on Kazaa, etc., within a few minutes of getting it. (Probably someone who was double-billed by AU, out of a revenge impulse.) To believe otherwise is foolish. Greybird of Starhaven

As to that last comment ... no, I don't endorse piracy of such material, and I'm not a member of Kazaa or other services. (Nor the late Napster or similar.) I'm just being forthright about the likely reality. Rage at pricing has fueled most of the peer-to-peer "sharing" movement.
I suspect the bonus disk is being held up in part by one of the delaying factors for the series in general: clearances. I'd be surprised if Bedford Falls didn't have the contractual right to review and approve its contents. It has the "MSCL" logo on it and uses show outtakes, doesn't it? And, if anyone is tallying, yes, I'd pay $30 or less for the bonus disc by itself. Not $50 to $60 more! Greybird of Starhaven

Re: Mine arrived alsoJust a little FYI - in the madness of preparing to go to a conference, I forgot to cancel my AU order so it arrived while I was in Florida. When my boyfriend told me that I had a package from The Accused in Sacramento, I smacked myself on the forehead and thought, "THAT'S what I didn't do!" The most interesting part - he wasn't home either so no one signed for the package. I guess it depends on your friendly neighborhood UPS man.
