I seriously doubt the accounting dept. is backed up.I seriously doubt the accounting dept. is backed up.Lets to the math, estimating in AU's favor. I'm assuming they're backed up from the overcharges that happened in Aug.
500 accounts to process (double/triple charge/refund) X 20 minutes per account = 10000 minutes. = about 170 hours. = 20 (8 hour) days. =SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE OVER A MONTH AGO. Of course, I didn't take into account that these guys are displaying every trait of a neanderthal , so it probably takes them a full day just for one account. Re: I seriously doubt the accounting dept. is backed up.They credited about 20 refunds on the drygrass site today. I had fun watching them. I guess they got tired and went home.
Correction: they marked 20 submissions as: "Cancel noted Refund in process 10/22/02" That doesn't mean that they did anything. And none of those requests were recent ones. There are still many people who received a similar message in August. Re: I seriously doubt the accounting dept. is backed up.That doesn't even mean the order is cancelled. Many of us called later after receiving the above notice only to find our orders weren't even cancelled. The above is most likely a lie. Re: I seriously doubt the accounting dept. is backed up.I don't know why they would lie about 20 orders. That is not even the tip of the iceberg. There are over 300 new cancellations awaiting refunds.
In my opinion AU's gonna rush the DVDs out, ignore most people's cancellation requests... and avoid having to refund our money.
If we receive the DVDs, legally they wouldn't have to refund our money would they? Even if we tried to cancel *long* before they sent the DVDs out? (Of course I'm talking about refunding the original payment we made, not the overcharges). I'm so angry that AU isn't acknowledging the cancellations. I really don't want to get the set from them anymore! But I don't think they're gonna give us a choice. ![]() Yeah, I seriously wouldn't put it past them to be really sleazy and send out the disk, and say, "Hey, whats the problem? You got the disks, didn't you? Why would you cancel?" Actually, I would almost count on it. If the disks are in people's hands, they won't want to deal with the hassle that AU has forced down our throats.
If you've canceled, and you recieve a shipment, refuse it at the door. If you've canceled, and they ship it to you, it has become an unsolicited mailing, and you have every right to refuse it. "Your imagination, like a child, will explode with unrestrained possibilities for adventure."
If AU ships priority mail via the USPS, you won't have the option to refuse the shipment since it will just get put in your mailbox along with all your bills. Like I said before, if you cancelled and you receive a shipment, DO NOT just mark it "return to sender" because you will have no proof that you sent the set back. Imagine trying to demand a credit for your cancellation when AU claims that they shipped the DVDs to you and they have no record that you returned it. Spend the $5 to ship it back UPS so that you have a tracking number and a traceable signature that proves the set was returned to AU.
Ahem, If you've cancelled, and they ship it to you, it has become an unsolicited mailing, and you GET TO KEEP IT and still get your refund. This was decided back in the days of "12 CDs for a penny" music clubs where they would every month send out a CD or vinyl and bill you for it whether you wanted it or not. You are under no obligation to return merchandise that you did not order. This is also true for orders that are cancelled well before the ship date. It's all in the USPS regulations. IF Ross uses another carrier, then all this might not apply. Really? Excellent.
![]() Especially because if I try to ship it back to them from the UK it will be a giant pain in the arse, not to mention expensive. --------------------------------------------- http://www.urban-hills.blogspot.com ---------------------------------------------
Those are all good points.
![]() Yeah but here's the problem...it's our word against theirs that we've cancelled, right? We *tried* to cancel, but as many have reported, when they call AU to confirm that, they learn their order still stands. So my worry is, AU will keep ignoring our attempts to cancel, ship the DVDs and say "hey you pre-ordered and pre-paid...and now you've got what you paid for." (except the bonus extras of course, which they cleverly avoided mentioning in the official paper-mailing they sent out way back when) My CC company is already giving me a hard time about disputing because the original charge was so long ago... I'm sure they'd dismiss my "case" completely if I actually receive the product I ordered at last. I really don't think they'd care that I tried to cancel because, since ordering, I learned AU's a crooked company and I don't want to deal with them anymore. The guys I've talked to on the phone aren't interested in hearing the sordid details about AU's way of doing business. Anyway, how can we prove that it was an unsolicited mailing? I don't think we'd have much hope of getting a refund after the DVDs ship. Unless maybe Jason can help us since he has proof at drygrass that zillions of people want to cancel? ![]()
PS...Yes I did read posts elsewhere about the IFCC FBI plan. But is there anything else we can do if AU won't cancel and refund customers orders?
'Cause honestly I don't really see how that will help us in terms of convincing our CC companies to dispute...especially if we've received the product we paid for and don't have a leg to stand on anymore. Sorry for repeating myself. ![]()
If you have the email that you sent AND you filled out the drygrass form, you do have proof that you attempted to cancel your order. Call and ask AU to fax that proof of cancellation form to you though!
Thanks for the advice. ![]() That would be great! I'd really appreciate that. ![]() I have an email from AU confirming my cancellation as well as an entry in the drygrass site, a 3rd party at this point. Getting a fax from AU is another good idea. If you're worried about "my word against theirs", I should point out that for USPS priority mail, delivery confirmation costs extra. Given how cash strapped AU is, I doubt they can afford it. So, it could very well be your word against theirs as to wheter you received any merchandise at all ![]() Who is onlineUsers browsing this forum: No registered users and 2 guests |
