The rain comes pouring down.Parading across my skylight,
And driving on the windowpane.
In the middle of the night,
Keeping me awake.
Awake from the dreams and nightmares I might otherwise face.
So
I start to think,
I begin to daydream in the night while never sleeping.
I think of this summer of fun,
Of confusion, of sunshine, of laughter, and of wasted tears, and wasted breath.
Wasted sleepless nights,
Much like this one.
While the rain drums and patters on my heart and my soul, I begin to drift,
Begin to feel the night time wearing
As my bedroom door sways and cracks and moves to the changing air currents in the house.
As my eyes shut,
The pencil drops,
And I fall asleep.
