Annoying Holiday SongsAnnoying Holiday SongsOkay,
How about listing your most annoying holiday songs or most annoying rendition of holiday songs. I remember my co-worker being stung by the "All I want is a Hippopotamus for Christmas". He couldn't get the song out of his head and was last seen fleeing for his car. His logic being that if he could turn on the radio he might get the song out. -LanceMan That desperately irritating song by Slade... can't recall the name
Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas' Mistletoe and Wine by Sir Cliff Richard (it's hard to imagine a song more cringe-inducing than this one). I come out in shivers just thinking about christmas 'muzak' because between the ages of 16 and 20 I worked in a clothing store every saturday and once school finished, full time. They had an hour-long tape which looped 8 or 9 times a day.... Grrrrrrrrr. --------------------------------------------- http://www.urban-hills.blogspot.com --------------------------------------------- Oh I feel your pain there Starbug. Back when I worked in retail it was Christmas musak all day. Worse still, back when I worked at a movie theater they played the same 12 songs all day long. To this day I can't listen to "Against the Wind" without trying to turn it off, change the channel or trying to leave the room. -LanceMan
I actually find all holiday songs annoying. I have never liked holiday songs, and I don't understand why so many people do. I can tolerate songs done by bands I like that are holiday based, but I wouldn't really play them by choice. I might pick up the Connor Oberst (from Bright Eyes) christmas album, but that is only for my disease known as being a completist.
lol, ok I am changing my answer. The worst and most annoying holiday song is any one of them heard after December 26th "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart,
but the very next day, you gave it away..." Need I say more? George Michael, of "WHAM"-fame back then, produced this not very spectacular song a few decades ago. But for some reason, tv and radio stations don't let this song rest in peace. Every year around November 25th, the song appears in the rotations of MTV and VIVA and a few days later, the single is available in stores - just to end up around #7 - #12 in the European charts on Christmas Eve. Every damn year. I'm sooo sick of this song...
EXACTLY the song I was going to say! I just heard this last night at a store ... I about ripped my hair out waiting in line to buy my stuff and get out of that store! Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

In order to maintain my sanity while doing my Christmas shopping, I wear headphones until I get up to the checkout counter. This way I don't have to listen to the holiday music, the screaming children, the arguing grandparents, or the 50 ladies on cell phones.

Somehow I'd never heard this song until last night at work and I immediately thought of this forum topic, I'm glad others are of like mind. This is easily the worst Christmas song and is certainily in the running for worst song in general.
I think Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmas" is definitely in the running for Most Craptacular Christmas Song. I heard it again last night on the radio and just started laughing at how bad it is.
FuzzyFreaky, Feliz Navidad drives me crazy too. My sister worked at the mall in high school and she said between the Christmas songs they had looped in the store and the tape of songs they had in the mall hallways, she couldn't take it. I also don't like those "songs" of dogs barking/cats meowing out Christmas tunes. It's creepy, not cute. Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com
Look, if this is weird for you, being tutored? I don't mind helping you a little longer. You could have sex with me if you really want to help...I guess that's a "no"? I heard both Paul and George's songs this morning on the radio and did indeed have to come in here and post about my misery but I see you've all beaten me to it.
Although, in my radio station's defence, there's a line in Wonderful Christmas which goes '...and that's enough.' and they cut it at that point and said 'yep, that is enough of that.' Sadly it was already 2/3 the way through the song. --------------------------------------------- http://www.urban-hills.blogspot.com ---------------------------------------------
Once upon a time I came across an old cassette labeled something like "Have a groovy funky way-out Disco Christmas". I had to listen to a few seconds out of morbid curiosity, but that was enough.
I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.
-- Clarence Darrow I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it. -- Mark Twain
"Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" is a very annoying Christmas song. It's the only one that pops into my mind at the moment.

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you? Graham: And how much of you? Angela: Dad! Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I?
