does anyone think you can die of a broken heart?does anyone think you can die of a broken heart?I was just reading about how having a broken heart can sometimes be worse then any physical pain... I mean I know what it feels like to have an overwhelming saddness and you just lose your will to live but I was just wondering if anyone else believed that?
so make the best of this test, and dont ask why
its not a question, but a lesson learned in time its something unpredictable, but in the end is right i hope you had the time of your life see ok I knew that other people believed that but scince there is no proof some people sometimes question this question... but I think what people dont understand is that when you have physical pain it can heal over time and you can also take medicine to numb the pain but when you have a broken heart and you just feel it for so long the only way you can stop the pain is by dying... I mean I was reading this article and this doctor said what you said about how your mind affects your body but why isnt it good enough for someone to just believe that instead of having to prove it through tests and stuff... I mean you can be so over whelmingly sad and just lose your will to live and its like the only cure is love... if you really think about it is so sad... i dunno thanks lance for answering...

Actually, there is some scientific evidence. The following is from a recent study done by researchers at UCLA:

Look, if this is weird for you, being tutored? I don't mind helping you a little longer. You could have sex with me if you really want to help...I guess that's a "no"? Proving, perhaps through tests and stuff , is quite the only way to go if one wants to be taken seriously in these matters -- things and ideas stated without the backing of proofs are always more or less just products of speculation and others have the right to question their validity. What we need more of is science. (especially, listen to MC Hawking's winning entry ) Yes, compared to the possible psychosomatic effects of feeling broken hearted it seems that the actions one takes to mend his/her condition can be by far more dangerous and even lethal. Time, too, is a great healer, some say, why not give it a fair chance to do its magic? yes it is true that if there were more proof of things such as this then it would not be so hard for people to understand or believe... I just think that when it comes to matters of the heart it should not be reduced to people saying that it is not true... I mean there are people who feel alone there whole life... like even with people who love them and even though they know that there are people who do its like you cant help but to feel alone... and being alone is such an overwhelmingly sad feeling it like takes control of who you are and you want to loose the feeling... why is it so hard to believe that it can happen?

I don't think anyone is denying that it is very possible to feel extremely sad, hurt, and rejected. We know that it happens all over the world every day. Only a person who has never been broken-hearted would have the audacity to deny the existence of the pain it causes. If anything, the reason why people are sometimes unsympathetic about it is because we have all been through it and we know that it's a part of life, and more importantly we know that no matter how much it hurts, one day it will hurt a little less. Why? On a practical level, we know this because almost everyone has felt that kind of pain at least once and lived to tell the tale. On a scientific level, because your body and mind can only sustain a high level of stress for so long before adapting (which is why your body produces endorphins when you are in pain or why people can tolerate unpleasant smells after a period of time). Feeling sad is a normal part of the healing process; however, months of overwhelming sadness indicate depression and should be treated by a professional.
