Wedding Songs
In the U.S., we have the famous DeBeers ads asking, "How else can two months' salary last forever?"
I remember telling my high school boyfriend it was six months though, just to freak him out! ![]() Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com
Look, if this is weird for you, being tutored? I don't mind helping you a little longer. You could have sex with me if you really want to help...I guess that's a "no"? Hey, sorry I haven't replied sooner. School got kinda crazy there for a couple weeks. The song I'd dance to with my father is "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder, because my dad always said that he picked it for me to be 'my song' when I was born. The song I'd sing to my husband is "Words Can't Describe" - it's a jazz standard and I can't remember the composer, but Sarah Vaughn does a great version. Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.
~~Kristin~~ Kristin - I got all teary reading your post!
Prob'ly coz my Dad chose a song for me when I was born too "Little Ray of Sunshine", I forget who it's by, but it came out in 1980. I'm going to have that at my wedding. My boyfriend and I have a song, but it's too soppy to mention, and I don't want it at our wedding coz it'd be sickening.
I rediscovered a song that I'd really like to dance to when I get married, the trick would be finding a girl that would agree to it. Anyway it's Live - Stood Up For Love. It's abstract, not too sappy, yet emotional. Something a little more unique and special than Shania Twain - You're Still The One.

Ugh, I have a hard time liking songs with glaring grammatical errors. She's in the Sheryl Crow club - hot, but her voice annoys me. Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com

That's because you an English snob. I have no problem with grammatical errors since I'm very good at making them. But I suppose if there was a song that got one of Newton's laws of motion wrong it would annoy me too. Sing it with me! "A body stays in motion till acted upon by an.... outside force, an outside force..." No? I'll retreat to the nerdery with my fellow nerds and our calculators now. ![]() "To come to your senses, you must first go out of your mind." - Alan Watts
I will simply refer to a Buffy quote (there is a Buffy quote or a MSCL quote for every occasion):
It also drives me crazy to see things like vampires smoking because they are not supposed to be breathing. Sadly, it ain't just grammar errors that drive me crazy! Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com

My cousin is getting married in July next summer and she has asked me if I would sing something at the ceremony. They don't really have a lot of money, and the wedding will be in northern Wisconsin (my cousin & her fiance currently live in Seattle). This means I'll probably have to sing the song a cappella - no piano, no other instruments, just me. Any ideas for what love song would sound good unaccompanied? I was thinking maybe Etta James's At Last, but I don't know. Any input? Thanks! Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.
~~Kristin~~
This isn't an answer to your question Kristin (sorry), just a list of songs I would like at my wedding...
Before (as people are seated), and during the Ceremony: (I would love to have some acustic guitars accompanying singers) Pachelbel Cannon in D "Turn Turn Turn" (The Byrds) "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac) "Father and Son" (Cat Stevens) Dinner and Reception/Dancing: "Leather and Lace" (Stevie Nicks - this was the song my sister and her husband danced to at their wedding) "Mint Car" (The Cure -- this is the song I want to dance to at my wedding!) As part of my wedding present to my friend who just got married this Spring (the same same friend mentioned in the "Guys" thread), I made them a double disc wedding CD: Disc 1 Beach Boys "Wouldn't It be Nice" U2 "Sweetest Thing" Bob Marley "Is This Love" MXPX "Take on Me" Blink 182 "M+M's" Cat Stevens "Here Comes My Baby" Aquabats "Red Sweater" The Cure "Mint Car" King Floyd "Groove me" The Rolling Stones "Beast of Burden" Bob Dylan "Shelter From the Storm" Semisonic "DND" The Cure "Close to Me" Dave Matthews Band "Two Step" Disk 2 Etta James "At Last" The Beach Boys "God Only Knows" John Lennon "Oh Yoko" The Cure "Just Like Heaven" Stevie Nicks and Don Henley "Leather and Lace" The Cure "Love Song" Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time" Ben Harper "Forever" Ben Folds "Luckiest" Ben Harper "The Three of Us" Sometimes I write a little MSCL fanfiction: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1039807/Jody-Barsch
Also, after multiple V. Mars reiterations, and finally a Deadwood movie, still wishing for some continuation of The Riches ! Hey,
Don't know if it's any help at all but Mr. S and I had a song by Katie Melua (could be Mellua) at our wedding called 'Call off the Search'. It's virtually accompaniment-free anyway (although if there's a piano the harmonies could be easily transpose there anyway - you'd really only need someone who could hit a few chords at the right time), and it's a beautiful song. I'm sure you can listen to it online somewhere and I would really recommend it to you. I can bet they never will have heard it though, so that might be a drawback. --------------------------------------------- http://www.urban-hills.blogspot.com --------------------------------------------- Thanks starbug, I'll check that song out. I can play piano a little bit, so maybe I'll be able to hit those few chords myself. Or I could just do it on guitar. I think it can be any song --- my cousin is not too particular or picky.

~~Kristin~~ My brothers wedding song was "Your so vicious" by Lou reed.
Mine was far less alternative. we danced to "love" by JOhn Lennon. A simple/classic love song. edited for tags not closed properly doh! "So this is hell. I'd never have believed it. You remember all we were told about the torture-chambers, the fire and brimstone, the "burning marl." Old wive's tales! There's no need for red-hot pokers. HELL IS - OTHER PEOPLE!"
