Hey, sorry I haven't replied sooner. School got kinda crazy there for a couple weeks. The song I'd dance to with my father is "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder, because my dad always said that he picked it for me to be 'my song' when I was born. The song I'd sing to my husband is "Words Can't Describe" - it's a jazz standard and I can't remember the composer, but Sarah Vaughn does a great version.

Prob'ly coz my Dad chose a song for me when I was born too "Little Ray of Sunshine", I forget who it's by, but it came out in 1980. I'm going to have that at my wedding.

My boyfriend and I have a song, but it's too soppy to mention, and I don't want it at our wedding coz it'd be sickening.

I rediscovered a song that I'd really like to dance to when I get married, the trick would be finding a girl that would agree to it. Anyway it's Live - Stood Up For Love. It's abstract, not too sappy, yet emotional. Something a little more unique and special than Shania Twain - You're Still The One.

But I suppose if there was a song that got one of Newton's laws of motion wrong it would annoy me too. Sing it with me! It also drives me crazy to see things like vampires smoking because they are not supposed to be breathing. Sadly, it ain't just grammar errors that drive me crazy!

Reviving an older thread here...

My cousin is getting married in July next summer and she has asked me if I would sing something at the ceremony. They don't really have a lot of money, and the wedding will be in northern Wisconsin (my cousin & her fiance currently live in Seattle). This means I'll probably have to sing the song a cappella - no piano, no other instruments, just me. Any ideas for what love song would sound good unaccompanied? I was thinking maybe Etta James's At Last, but I don't know. Any input? Thanks!

Don't know if it's any help at all but Mr. S and I had a song by Katie Melua (could be Mellua) at our wedding called 'Call off the Search'. It's virtually accompaniment-free anyway (although if there's a piano the harmonies could be easily transpose there anyway - you'd really only need someone who could hit a few chords at the right time), and it's a beautiful song. I'm sure you can listen to it online somewhere and I would really recommend it to you. I can bet they never will have heard it though, so that might be a drawback.

Thanks starbug, I'll check that song out. I can play piano a little bit, so maybe I'll be able to hit those few chords myself. Or I could just do it on guitar. I think it can be any song --- my cousin is not too particular or picky.
