There is another, less publicized option in the marriage controversy: Privatization.
You may find this article interesting. It contains a brief history of western marriage policies, an analysis of the current debate, and an explanation of how privatization of marriage could easily bypass the long-simmering arguments while satisfying the demands of both sides. I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.
