Missing Time?
Missing Time?Am I imagining things, or is there about a one year gap between the founding of MSCL.com and the earliest posts on the forum?
Of course I only found this site about a year ago, so maybe it's common knowledge to the old timers; I'm just curious. Was there simply no forum during the first year, or was there a catastrophic memory failure of some kind? (Damn, nostalgia moves fast -- I am already looking back to the late nineties! Yes, the days when Dinosaurs roamed the Earth and my internet connection consisted of two soupcans and a bit of string... ![]() I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.
-- Clarence Darrow I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it. -- Mark Twain Yeah, MSCL.COM v1.0 was a very simple website - it had only a few pages and a basic layout (everything had white backgorund). (see http://web.archive.org/web/199812030550 ... m/text.htm )
The website started on August 25th, 1998 - the forum was launched in May 1999 AFAIR. The new look of the entire site (as you see it now, with a few modifications) was launched around late 1999. The new forum was installed in July 2002. Check http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mscl.com for more nostalgia... A new MSCL.com is in the works for ages now, but I'm changing my mind almost every month about the "look & feel" of the new layout ![]() ![]() BTW: I found the first posting: http://www.mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1136 (May 25th, 1999)
(it says "1136" in the URL due to the import/export when we switched the forum software - the software "recounted" the postings)
Thanks Sascha, I'm glad to know I didn't miss out on much; when I first found the forum I spent about a month or two just catching up on all the old threads.
![]() Yep, that's the problem with perfectionism, you never can live up to your own impossibly high standards. ![]() Done, done, and done. And I mean done! ![]() I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.
