I know I called my CC company the same day I got my statement. They told me to take it up with the company and only file with them(the CC company) as a last resort since I was worried that my order would get cancelled.
As far as "paying" it otherwise, dude, it's a credit card--they're like the mafia. They take what they want. I can't just *not* pay them. It doesn't work like that. I have finally filed the appropriate paperwork with them to get the refunds, but still nada so far. <--still waiting on $230 from AU. I'd like the interest back, too, but I'm not holding my breath over here. Actually I didn't use a credit card. My card uses the money directly from my account so I had no choice. Actually, Jason was not setting the interviews up, Steve Joyner was. I remember one of the possible dates was back in June, but something happened and that fell apart. Gord
No one "gave" extra money to AU. The reason we have been calling it FRAUD is because AU charged people's cards AGAIN without customer authorization. That means no one knew about it until their credit card statements came and they saw another $115 charge and said, "WTF? I already paid AU a few months ago." That is not customers "giving" extra money to AU - that is AU taking it illegally. As far as not paying that portion of the credit card bill, all that does is add interest to the balance. OK - everybody, please read this carefully. My simple question is . . . why did you not take it up with the Credit Card Company as soon as you saw it on the statement?! That is all i am asking. I have credit cards, I understand how they work, I'm not an idiot. It is a credit card, not a debit card, so AU didn't just take your money. Did the credit card company turn your request down and say "there is nothing we can do about this" when you asked them about the double charge? Were people to afraid to ask? It sounds like a few of you are afraid of your cc comp., refering to them as "the mafia" and such. The basic question is, how did you challenge the charge from AU? Was it even challenged at the time? Simple questions. There is no need to be sassy.

It's like Candygirl said (way better than I did), they took it without asking! My CC company said that since I gave them my CC number in the first place *in good faith* that it was AU's fault I was double-charged. They just took it---trust me, I have been trying my ass off for three months to get AU to give it back but sometimes crooks are just crooks. Because *they* had my number, they took it and I was required to pay BY LAW unless I can prove they screwed up. That's like asking why victims give muggers their wallets. THEY TOOK WITHOUT ASKING. ![]()
Why? Let me recap for you since you apparently haven't read about ALL the drama here. AU said that they would credit everyone for the double and triple charges. They warned customers that if we contacted our credit card companies (1) it would create problems by potentially receiving double credit for the charge from the CC company and AU (2) it might result in our orders being cancelled.
Being the trusting consumers that we are, people assumed that AU was NOT lying and would, in fact, credit back the double and triple charges. Remember, this was MONTHS ago when we were still under the impression that the double and triple charges were an accident and the set would ship shortly. I'm not trying to be sassy with you, but after months of dealing with AU and reading about all the problems people have encountered on the board, it's a little annoying to have people post the equivalent of "how could you have been so stupid?" Re:Crap, I can't edit my post, but to answer your question--I called my CC company the same day the statement came. It is AU that is putting its head in the sand and claiming that they are overwhelmed by their own lack of forethought. If they only had the capacity to send out 2,000 sets---here's a thought---stop taking orders at 2,000! Math is fun, kids!
It is AU that are being the bastards here and refusing to honor their good faith agreement, and my CC company is going after them. In the meantime, I just have to wait, to complain, and to hope that they don't declare bankruptcy before we all get our money back.
Re:Heh...not only did they NOT stop taking orders at 2000, those crooks still have the order form up for these DVDs. Which means that every day, poor unsuspecting new customers are getting themselves into this load of crap. ARRRRRRRRRGGGH!!!!! I truly hate this crooked company and wish we would all get our damn money back today! Re:Exactly and now they're "overwhelmed" because of the constant phone calls and emails from the MSCL customers. Gee, if they hadn't screwed up and lied to everyone in the first place they wouldn't be so overwhelmed with cancellations and refunds now. And if they had credited the double and triple charges, I don't know, in July and August when they occurred, then they wouldn't be swamped with trying to do them now in the midst of the cancellations and refunds. Then we hear about poor Wade and the accounting department being overworked and backed up (which I do believe). What normal companies do when they get busy is hire temps to do the bitch work. Like "you take phone messages," "you sort through the emails," "you process the credits," etc. Oh wait, but that would take MONEY which AU apparently doesn't have.

Memphis, TN JEEZ! Candygirl, contrary to popular opinion, I have been here throughout all the drama. I've read hundreds of posts on this forum, and I UNDERSTAND what happened with this whole catastrophe of the making of the MSCL DVD set. I didn't know I was risking my claim to "knowing what's going down" by raising one question. I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with this topic. I had no intention of offending anyone on this board, and I certainly didn't intend to come across as insulting. My question wasn't "How could you have been so stupid?" and I'm sorry if it sounded like that. I just/simply wanted to know what exactly happened when the double/triple charges occured. I wanted to better understand how all of these problems got started from the beginning. I hate AU as much as the next person. So just forget it! This topic is apprently to touchy to even ask a question, and if I keep asking I'll get on everyone's bad side. I come to this forum for help just like everyone else.
