High or low?

Post by Natasha (candygirl) » Jun 2nd 2003, 3:57 pm

Just curious - who uses the high layout and who uses the low layout at this site?

I started out using the low layout back in the day when I had dialup and have never converted to the high layout.

I always use Low, it is laid out better, and is easier to find things with IMO. I actually forgot what high looked like and had to go check it before I replied.

Interesting poll. I myself haven't used the "high" layout for ages - that's probably the reason why it's horribly broken in some parts of the website (e.g. it doesn't work with the forum and Mozilla). When we designed it somewhere around 2000, I couldn't stop playing around with dynamic HTML elements and it kinda got overboard... :-) It still looks cool, but it lacks in usability and it's hard to navigate.

But I still love the idea of "T.I.N.O. - The Interactive Navigation Organizer" :D

My shortcut is set to the forum index on the low layout. My dial-up connection doesn't like the high one and the low layout is just so easy to use.

Agreed. I can find things easier with the low layout.

Low for me. even though I've got broadband or something at work and it's super zippy, I prefer the low layout - like everyone else has said it's easier to find stuff...

Lance, when you come to the site do you go to the home page first? If so, it will ask you whether you want the high setting or the low setting. If you've got a blue navigation bar down the left hand side of your screen, you're in the Low one...

Ahh,

That explains it, I never go to the front page. I just go immediately to the forum index.
