Pilot Episode: "These aren't my shoes"
Pilot Episode: "These aren't my shoes"I watched the pilot again, and finally got the message behind Angela's statement. Literally, that nite she was trying to wear someone's shoes (life), Rayanne's. But she nearly falls on her face (rowdy guy & police), of course Brian was there to save her from falling (walking her home instead of the cops).
I've always understood that, but I'm sure there are plenty of things that I don't think twice about that really have deeper meaning. I'm sure Jody or CG could give us a literary term that describes this situation. Anyway, I've always liked that statement, it speaks volumes about what Angela is feeling, particularily in the pilot.

K, this is way out in left field and I'm new so perhaps I haven't read through the big discussion on the pilot, but has anyone ever given thought to the idea that Rayanne might be bi or ? I was just watching the pilot the other day and came upont he scene of her drunk in the police car going home with Angela where she says "with your hair like that... it hurts to look at you..." and I'm presuming she was being sincere rather than sarcastic... *shrug*
Love that part at the end where Angela and Brian are standing across the street from one another and he's obviously head over heels for her and she says "that theme's pathetic" and he says "I know..." as he stares at her puppydog eyes... LoL Rickie: Oh, so they're back together, huh?
Brian : Yep. Of course, she's still gonna die someday! We're all gonna die!
Re: the scene of Rayanne drunk in the police car going home with Angela where she says "with your hair like that... it hurts to look at you..." My take on it was that Rayanne was indeed being sincere but I'm not sure there was any sexual implication. I rather thought she was just trying to be nice and compliment Angela on successfully being a Bad Girl for the night. The irony of the drunken misquote was presumably one of the reasons why Angela ended up feeling so bad about everything she'd been doing.
Ya, I've always thought rayanne was bi. like i think her statement tho had to do with her also being drunk and not knowin exactly what she was going on about, but ive also found her character to have that vibe or something, i mean remember the episode guns in school one, where rayannes mom told angelas how in love rayanne was with angela , i mean i know she meant as in wanting to be like her, but i still think she kinda had feelings for angela in some way. at least thats what i think. This adresses the comment about Rayanne being "bi". The reason why Rayanne said, "With your hair like that, it hurts to look at you," goes back to the comment Angela made in the parking lot of "Let's Bolt". Remember when Ricky asks both Angela and Rayanne what they would say to the "other person" right before they were going to "do it" for the first time? (I don't exactly know why he partially directs this question toward Rayanne, who I think made it very clear that she was not a virgin from the beginning.) Angela responds, "You're so beautiful, it hurts to look at you". That is the reason why Rayanne says what she says to Angela when the cop takes them home. She also says it because she is very drunk, which is obvious. So I personally don't believe that Rayanne's comment is of any indication that she may be "bi". But that's just me.
