Question about the T-Shirts. and follow up.

Post by Jason R » Jul 4th 2002, 3:37 pm

Can anybody tell me about these shirts? Have they been available from other sources? I was not even told that the mass mail was going out, and I just woke up to a ton of customer emails.

Thanks
Jason Rosenfeld

OK. Everything seems to be okey dokey. I spoke with Ross Rojek, the CEO of AU, this afternoon (although it still feels like morning because I woke up at 2:30pm, heh).

FYI: I am working on the DVD project, so T-shirts and whatnot don't usually fall within my domain. I just got a ton of emails and didn't know the scoop. Then, I had no way of knowing the source of the shirts.

Per AU.com, these shirts are being made by a vendor that has sold them other licensed merchandise in the past. If you look at the AU.com site, you will see that pretty much everything there is licensed merchandise (superheroes, anime, etc.) So, I just wanted to say that this appears to be licensed properly, however, I will follow up with the vendor as requested by some of the people who emailed me.

Thanks!
Jason

OK, I see that the T-shirts are legit, but what I want to know is this: Can I order over the phone or is the online form the only way to go? Also, the E-mail ad was screaming about limited quantities so how do I know if there's anything left to order, especially in my size and color?

I can answer practically anything about the DVDs. But I don't know as much about the other stuff on the site, including the MSCL shirts.

I would think you could order by phone with the number on their site.

This is a time for a legitimate criticism, though. I think that the tone of that mass email was a little too urgent. I don't think there is any danger of the shirts selling out, and I did not care for the way it was written. I simply don't think that that kind of salesmanship is necessary when fans are already very committed to a show. I mean, this stuff just sells itself.

I shared my concerns with the CEO of AU. Now, bear in mind, the CEO of a company is not going to know everything that goes out. It's just not possible. However, he actually called me back when he got ahold of the email and agreed with my concerns. I asked that the language on the site be changed. However, I don't think a clarification email should be sent. I would rather save emails for major news.

(Ross from AU)

Mike has always had more than a bit of the carnaval barker in him.

You can call the office during the day tomorrow (8-4:30 PST) to order as well. I'll have someone work over the discription to make it more normal. We just placed the order earlier in the week (all sizes and designs) and I know we'll sell out of that order fairly quickly.

I was going to say that exactly. You don't go to a carnival and find the guy yelling, "we have plenty here! no rush at all! take your time buying our stuff!" At the same time, when someone has already bought something, there is already a more intimate relationship.

A more subtle "Pssst.... over here!" probably works better in this case. :)
