we all know what you did for us and this project - thanks. However, the last few postings caused some panic. (not, that there wouldn't be enough reasons to panic)

I would appreciate it if you would post one message containing all the problems. At the moment it seems that there are even MORE problems you didn't tell us about (yet). And instead of hinting that there are more problems, name them. At least we would know what's going on and all that guessing and all the rumors would stop

besides, it would change your total amount of postings to 667. Now if that isn't a reason

That was my original plan while an employee there. Sell direct!

I will post a very simple bullet-point outline. I will keep it very clinical. No emotion, no expletives, no exclamation points. I will outline the current problems.

And hopefully, I will even get a call or two with some good news (assuming people are still allowed to talk with me). :P None yet, though.

Kriddyboo,

I too respect your opinion. Also, there are a ton of other forums on http://www.mscl.com and their tone is quite pleasant. I actually post in the off-topic forum from time to time.

This forum is the dvd forum and right now the biggest issues for the dvd set are related to those of thus that pre-ordered from anotheruniverse.com and are concerned about our money. As you can tell some of us are a little bit angry. The anger has escalated as we found out more about what is going on.

I fully expect the tone to lighten up once dvd's start shipping. But realistically, what else is there to talk about on the dvd forum until we start getting packages in the mail?

man, why cant things lighen up now. i was double billed, forever ago, still havent got the refund. ive watched the release dates come and go. but, you know what, it dosnt bother me. im just happy its finally coming together. its just business, nothing personal. MSCL has been a very important part of my life sence 93, ive obsesed over it, wished there was a Three Rivers to move to and all that. to see people all up in arms does show how important MSCL is to every one else, but proves usless in getting the set out any quicker. why get mad at the people who volenteered to make it in the first place? i could be talking out of my a$$ here, just an opinion.

I'm not leaving AU anytime soon. AU will honor all the coupons that are issued, but they will not be exchangable (you can't sell them off to people who do want them). Just like we honored all the orders for the Free Spike figure that Fandom had promised people before we bought AU. We ended up buying them ourselves and sending them to people just because it was the right thing to do.
I really do want to give Ross the benefit of the doubt, but then I read this on an old post of his. <http://mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4 ... 9c3c9#4681>
As far as complaints about AU, since we bought AU last year, we've had very few customer problems. Until this project. HOWEVER, Another Universe went out of business overnight in March of 2001, leaving a lot of pissed off customers. And since we bought the web site at that point, everyone assumed that we were going to be responsible for all the outstanding pre-paid orders. Which we weren't.
If AU changes hands again why would our pre-paid orders be treated any different than when Ross initially took over?

Just a thought.

I think that post proves what Jason said earlier - that Ross will say anything to calm us down and then NOT FOLLOW THROUGH.
Ross Rojek wrote:We were informed by BMG that they set would be to us at the beginning of June, and that they wanted payment in full prior to doing the authoring.
Interesting in light of recent events.

If BMG wanted payment in pull prior to doing the authoring and they are now doing the authoring, does that mean they HAVE been paid or did they just decide to start the authoring once they realized they could sell to other retailers?

They made the mistake of taking AU at their word. The wire was supposedly sent over 2 weeks ago.

Does anyone know how we can get the phone number for the Attorney General of California? I think everyone involved in this project needs to give this person a call on Monday so that they know what is going on with a company that is not too far from their offices.

You can contact the Public Inquiry Unit at (916) 322-3360 or, within California, by calling (800) 952-5225.

Oh bloody...

Post by kartar » Oct 11th 2002, 8:59 pm

Having stumbled onto this site I discovered to my wonderment that someone was releasing MSCL on DVD in a boxed set. One of my favourite shows! My mouse literally fly to AnotherUniverse.com and I ordered.

So the ship date comes and goes - well I live in Australia - International mail can be very variable so I don't worry too much. But October comes by and I start to wonder - I make a couple of calls to AU start and send email - and since I am in an entirely different time zone it means making those calls at 2 or 3 AM in the morning! All I get is an answering machine and no replies.

So I come back here and start reading this post. The only thing I can say is: How the f*ck are these guys still in business?

I just give thanks that I wasn't overcharged. If they don't ship next week I'll be getting my credit card company to dispute the charges - since I have NEVER heard back from the vendor about anything I have asked I don't expect to be able to cancel the order. Too much of that happening and it is going to be murder on their credit rating.

Cheers

By the end of next week, they probably won't be. From what's been posted about CMI, it's clear they don't have enough money to pay BMG or to give refunds.

Mabye if we all pulled together, we could buy CMI, fire Ross, and fix this mess.

Time to alert the media?

Post by leerosevere » Oct 11th 2002, 11:14 pm

Sorry if this suggestion is out of line, but it occurred to me that maybe all of this needs to be reported...to the media? Especially since AU refuses to "report" any of the problems/delays on their website?

After all, AU has received more customers (ie: suckers) thanks to reports on the DVD set in Entertainment Weekly, etc. And RollingStone.com was sent a copy to review (rather prematurely IMO).

So I'm thinking, enough with the shiny-happy advertising. Somebody should let a hard-nosed journalist loose in this forum! Yeah, let a news hound dig up "the green and brown bugs crawling around underneath". (they wouldn't have to work very hard) And expose Ross/AU for the crooks they are. Seriously, isn't this a scandal that the public should be made aware of?
