Which begs the question: who will be stirring Ross's Kool-Aid?

I would just like to say that I am thankfull that the author wrote something about this whole process so that people become aware of what happened here. I know that the author didn't say exactly what we would have said about Ross, but sometimes Journalism can be tricky. If he sided to strongly with either side I think he might have risked turning off a lot of readers. Also the journalists often have editors which limit the scope of the piece they are writing. It is also possible that he included a lot information pertaining to Ross's behavior that was edited out due to space issues or merely because the editor said so. I do think that he made up for his lack of showing how horrible Ross and AnotherUniverse.com are by including the links in his story. Most poeple are very nosy and probably after reading his story clicked on the links came here and saw what actually happened to AnotherUniverse.com's customers. Well I am just Grateful that he chose to write on this topic and help us.

texasgirl, you must have read my mind, I was thinking of posting the same thing. Sure, while the tone of the article seemed slightly pro-AU, all any interested party has to do is follow the links. That is the real value in the story.

I've been following the trials and tribulations that this DVD set and the people involved have been going through since the pre-orders were announced. As a big Relativity fan, I've been watching this mess because I'm not only interested in getting the show on disc, but I'm also investigating options to get Relativity, another Bedford Falls production that was cut short by ABC, on DVD.

The article's first two segments were very very good, but I found the third installment to be lacking, almost like a disappointing finish to an otherwise good movie. A lot of the facts were glossed over. You've got to expect that with articles, but still, I felt the full scope of the controversy was underplayed. However, he did provide links, and that saves the article. With some effort, readers can investigate on their own.

I'm sure editorial decisions were made about how much dirt could be revealed. Can you imagine if the article went point by point with every single thing that has happened in the last three weeks alone? It would warrant another two chapters.

I'm interested in the inevitable chapter IV, where the final results are reported and the fates of all involved - the fans, the customers, the companies, Ross, Jason - are laid out and the article is truly finished.

I too feel as though the 3rd article seemed to “gloss over” the horrible treatment of the customers at the hands of AU; however my seething hatred of that company makes my opinion a little biased. Truth be told, I was really hoping to read a scathing little expose about how AU is a vile company that committed numerous acts of fraud and other various infractions. Maybe when this mess is over my wish will come true. In the meantime, I must concede that the author did do an okay job depicting both sides of this ongoing soap opera like struggle to get our DVDs.
If only there were a button somewhere that I could push. To force me to stop talking.

Sorry to seem dumb but how do I access parts 1 & 2 of the article?
I had part 1 bookmarked but that no longer works (I know the site was hacked and that could be the reason!?)
anyway, if anyone has the links?
ta very much!

Remember, though, that the site was just hacked into and so maybe that affected this article. Maybe it had to be rushed. It certainly didn't seem as well-written as the previous two. I was actually laughing at this paragraph:

"As the month of October began, emotions were running high among the principals of the MY SO-CALLED LIFE project. With no confirmed release date for the DVDs, emotions began to run high."

Hello, I'm a writer. Who are you?

Also, way to go Lance for having the article end with your quote from a few weeks ago. Just like the hacker's message about American History X said.

Hahaha. So the hacker was referring to this Derek after all. And he did, indeed, end with a quote. :P

The article you all read was not finished and was not to go "live" until reviewed by the principals that were interviewed. Jason asked me to make corrections and clarifications to some items, which are in the works.

However, I am sorry If I disappointed some of you with the way I handled this piece. It was an article, not an editorial. The things that have happened this October are beyond the scope of the story I began back in July, but I have attempted to include them just the same.

I am one of you. I have an order in for this set, and I get nothing for doing this piece, except the chance to tell a DETAILED story about how this whole thing happened. I would have waited longer to write the final chapter, but that's how the publishing business goes. There may be a part IV, but I'm not sure when would be the right time to broach that.

I will cop to missing that awful redundancy, though. I was pretty bleary eyed when I finished the draft.

By the way, don't think I am trying to discount the voice of the people at this forum. Movie Poop Shoot has a mail column, as well, and I heartily recommend everyone who feels their concerns were not addressed in our story write a letter to the editor. I am sure Chris would be happy to hear from you.

Heh. Interestingly, the article is not on the front page of the Poop Shoot page. Derek, I think you need to thank the fine group of young sleuths we have here on this site. In the last 24 hours they have found:

1) Your unfinished article
2) The secret second season of MSCL (j/k).

Well, I thought that the article did not seem as polished, and now we know why. It was still in the rough.

I wondered why the date at the top said November 4, 2002. I'll be the first to say that if I tried to write an article about this, it would suck. It might start off balanced but it would degrade into a sarcastic free for all.

I'm not exactly happy that anyone off the street can blisssfully buy the entire season at Amazon.com just because I suffered through a 8-month RR loan program and double charges. And, by the way, what exactly is the status for those that haven't cancelled yet? If you thought getting this far was bad, I can't wait for the AU.com shipping team to go into action. If they can't get the charges correct, how are they going to ship 4,000 packages and keep tracking numbers, much less the delivery address, straight?

See, I can't even write a paragraph about the MSCL DVD without sounding bitter. :(
