Hey Jason! A collective DVD set of THE STATE would get a huge response.
Damn straight it would! :D I didn't even think of that! It's been way too long since I've seen The State.
so says Sparx.

Damn! My first post and I spelled a word wrong. Sorry everyone, I'm trying to write a paper. Honestly, I go to a really good school. So anyway, maybe we can talk Jason into doing a State dvd after he's rested from this MSCL ordeal.

A Freeks and Geeks DVD was already attempted, but they couldn't clear music that played a major part of the show (my guess would be all the Rush songs).

Two suggestions: The Newsroom. Just in time to celebrate the 2-hour MOW sequel to a show that's been off the air for 6 years. No music to clear, only 13 episodes made, and as a Canadian, TVShowsonDVD.com's own Gord Lacey can attest to it's genius. Only problem: no one in the US has heard of it.

How about Dr Katz, the brilliant Comedy Central cartoon featuring, again, no music to clear.

how's aboot...

What about Twin Peaks?? We only ever got videos in the uk and these have long since disappeared. Or - anyone remember American Gothic, with Lucas Buck and that little boy.... just a thought... or does anyone else know of 80's tv sitcom "girls on top" from the uk... starring very young Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous), Ruby Wax (chat show host), Dawn French (vicar of Dibley) and Tracy Ullman (who has long since moved to America)... Just thoughts. And there's plenty more...
Never got to see freeks and geeks yet. I know it's supposed to be great.

Not to mention that S1 was released in the past year in the USA by Artisan, and S2 is on tap for a few months from now.

Undeclared would be my vote as well. However, the show's producer has stated that there will never be a dvd due to the huge problem of music rights. Apparently many of the hard core fans with cable modems or dsl just downloaded all of the episodes to their computers using kaaza.

I've already discussed it with Universal. They are still deciding how to handle their TV DVD releases, and shows like that aren't even on the planning board.

However they also don't want to license them to anyone else. But I was invited to approach them again next year for that and about 10 other smaller shows they own.

I told you Ross could back me on that one. It was probably one of the 1st 3 shows we ever discussed.

Oooo...Dr. Katz. I'd go for that one too.

My friends and I just watched "The State: Skits and Stickers" VHS the other week. They'd never seen it before and were dying. Good times. :)

I knew that Freaks and Geeks had trouble with the music clearance, which was why I wrote "even though I know it will never happen." But there's always hope. Maybe the problem was just that one company didn't want to spend X amount of money clearing certain songs. Maybe another company would ante up the cash?

I forgot that MOS was Universal. Yeah, I've talked to those guys, too. They REALLY like to handle things their own way, in their own good time. No rushing those fellas. Ah well; in the end I suppose most studios are the same way, just taking it to different levels.
