Update from Ross.
Jason, you really are a great guy.
You are volontarly getting rid of 25,000$ to prove you are impartial. But I think you are wrong... You should seek that 25,000$ and use it for something benefitting the fans. After all, 25000 / 3000 customers is only around 10$ per customers. What you should do is wait for everything to ship ( bonus disk included ) and I am sure you could do something, like a "My so-called life" fondation to pay for maintenance of MSCL.com, or call Bueno Vista and see if there is anything we could make for 25000$ that fans could benefit, such as a way cool keychain or trophy or even just a laminated plaque signed by cast members ( well, a copy of the signature, not the original ) that us that we could get... Yeah, that's actually a good idea ! Ask Winnie and Company plus a few of the cast members to sign a piece of paper thanking the fans, and make 3000 copies... It will probably cost under 25,000$ and would make us happy... No ?
The investors in CMI holdings should be suing AU for its complete and unprecidented inability to conduct business. There is no reason why AU should be paying by American Express when they have been sitting on a half million dollars for 6 months. We have been told BMG was paid, which isn't true. BMG was told they would be paid, but until they actually are, this is just more BS.
If I were you Jason, I would email everyone you have record of outlining exactly where this project stands, which from my read is the same as last week: neither BMG nor GWhiz has been paid, there are still many outstanding overcharges, AU does not have a completed bonus disc, and the set is available from just about everywhere for substatially less than AU was selling it for. There is no point waiting until next week to find out that BMG still hasn't been paid, or that GWhiz has been made more empty promises. The time for these discs to ship was months ago. I have had enough of AU's excuses. We willl remain in business and continue to work with out other clients (yes! believe it or not, we have other clients! sure would be nice to focus on them, especially seeing how they actually pay us and all).
We will continue the customer service page for 60 days. After it is pulled down, AU will still have access to it, but it will not accept new submissions. If any authorities request access, I will turn over an archive of the entire site, or an access password, if I receive a written request. Jason Rosenfeld Best wishes Jason. Regardless of how this turns out, I very much appreciated your work in bringing the MSCL DVD set to the fans. Thanks for having vision. I'll be sure to check out your next project. No Problem.
My message to Ross: There are other things in life that are more important than money: 1) not getting an ulcer 2) free time and happiness. 3) not pissing off your customers. I insist that $25K be distributed among all customers now. If AU does that, perhaps while also matching Amazon's price, the customers would possibly not receive a raw deal. You deserve to get something out of this whole fiasco. And if AU doesn't think it is a fiasco, I think some customers would beg to differ. However, my last act will be to mass mail everyone announcing that my company is pulling out for lack of trust, while also announcing whether the discs have been paid for. Jason Rosenfeld
Jason,
I just wanted to say thanks! I've been following this forum and your work for some time now and I thought it was about time I officially said thank you. This has been such a horrible process for all of us MSCL fans and you have done everything in your power to make it easier. I know for a fact I would have pulled out a long time ago if you weren't around, but knowing that you are doing all of this to help us get our dvd's has made me willing to stick it out until we hear today what had been decided between BMG and Ross. THANKS!!! L It seems to me that this messege from Ross....(saying everything will ship within a few days) is just a tactic to get people NOT to cancel. I'm sure he knows very well that Jason has suggested a deadline of Wednesday at 5 Pacific. Perhaps, he is just trying to "by some time" so some might believe him and not cancel later today....
I've never posted to this forum (although I've watched-with great interest- the entire saga develop) but I also feel the need to put my two cents into the mix.
I'm not a fan of MSCL, to be honest. I've been keeping tabs on the situation for my wife, who is a huge fan and was really excited to get this show on DVD. And I am sickened by the poor business practices of Another Universe. This has been one big, ugly, mess. At the same time I am very pleased with how Jason has kept AU customers informed, spoke up for us when we couldn't, and generally has been honest and open throughout this long, drawn-out...situation. Jason, both my wife and I thank you for being so helpful. That being said, I really hope you get all the money owed to you and your company, some way, some how. And if you do, by some chance, get it, please *keep* it. I respect your intentions of wanting to give back to the fans, but it's not your responsibility to subsidize AU customers. Frankly, you did the work, you deserve the money. In my eyes, you have nothing to prove. (I'm shocked you've put up with this much crap as it is.) Any problems I have with the price or extras... well, I'll take it up with AU. It's a shame that we'll be losing our best AU contact, but I suppose it's been a long time coming, eh? Thanks again, and I hope the lion's share of the problems are finally behind us. Shane
Yes, possibly, but at least you passed it along !
Without you, it would have been silence and no one would have seen their games. Possibly thanks to you, things have moved along. Who knows what would have happened without your updates ? By keeping an eye on Ross, you forced him to lie to you, showing his real way of doing business, keeping us skeptical of him. Jason-
I wasn't commenting on the quality of AU's info (or what you passed on to us via this and other boards) but the fact that you've made a constant and consistent effort to keep us informed, to the best of your knowledge. Even if the info wasn't/isn't always true, it was nice to have someone that can relay it regularly. I appreciate the effort- that's what I'm getting at.
Yeah Jason, if the scumbags at AU were lying through their teeth to you and you had no reason to question the validity of their claims, it's not your fault you passed on false info. It's kind of a 'dirty water through a clean pipe" type of a thing....ya know. And I hope if I really am not getting my DVD's or my $$$ back that you break it off in their ass for all of us!!!!!
Daddy sold the farm and they've killed my trees. K-man
