Could someone give just the bare bones facts?

Post by Jennifer » Oct 15th 2002, 7:58 pm

I just registered into the forum, though I've been reading it off and on since I placed my order many months ago and have posted a couple times before it became a "registered user only" forum.

Tonight, I came in after a few days away to see what the status is, and I see deadline announcements and forms to download and mass cancellation quests, but I'm not sure what exactly happened that made Jason give a deadline.

At the risk of asking a question that's already been answered elsewhere, between angry posts and frustration, could someone outline what the present state of affairs is, without the filler?

Thanks. :)

-Ross said he paid BMG.
-BMG say they weren't paid in full, and if Wednesday they still weren't, other resellers would get the DVDs reserved for AU.
-Ross said to me he would go to BMG monday for discussing the payment, but didn't go.
- So, if nothing changes, AU loses it's DVDs wednesday, hence the deadline...

There is a very convenient FAQ sticked to the top of the forum. Those seem to be the best facts there are, and aren't based on reactionary messages.

Here's the skinny:

1) If BMG is not paid by tomorrow, other retailers will have the MSCL box set before people who ordered from Another Universe. Right now there is a pretty good chance of that anyway, but this would pretty much ensure it.

2) The lunchbox guys (GWhiz) are also not paid, and because of this, the lunchboxes are printed, but not built, and sitting in a factory in Hong Kong.

3) Lots of other retailers have the set. All of them are charging less than AU. This would not be an issue, except that the version sold by AU is supposed to come with extra stuff (lunchbox and bonus disc). If the product cannot ship with those items, it just makes it worse that people who signed the petition would get it later than someone who just found it yesterday.

4) AU is promising payments, arranging meetings and the payments are not arriving, and they are being no-shows at the meeting. (AU did not meet with BMG today).

There you have it.

What are you basing this info on? Jason came up with the Wednesday deadline. Not BMG.

Please, let's not spread misinformation.

Jason says that is BMG's deadline for payment from AU. You might want to read ALL the posts before you accuse people of spreading misinformation.

well that is what Jason says, but he may have no idea what kind of arrangement has been made between BMG and AU.

He may no longer be privy to everything going on between BMG and AU.

I won't deny that is a possibility. Until Ross, or someone from BMG shows up to contradict Jason though, I'll continue to believe what Jason says.

I asked before, and you didn't respond... what reason do you have for giving AU and Ross the benefit of the doubt? Are you just playing devil's advocate, or do you know something we don't?

Personally, I was willing to give AU the benefit of the doubt the first few times that problems came up. But at this point, there have been too many problems, and too many excuses for this all to be a coincidence, IMO.

At this point, who cares. The lunchboxes are gone and the bonus disc hasn't been authored yet. These are the only items differentiating AU from other retailers.

Anyway, I do agree with you on this. Jason is out of the loop and doesn't know everything. However, at this point why would BMG bother making any deals. Thanks to AU, BMG has other customers now (amazon,etc.). So, they can tell Ross to f*** off.

BTW, since you seem so hellbent on questioning everything negative about AU, I should point out that there's no verification that Ross even had a meeting with BMG.

There was no meeting with BMG! Do you think I cannot pick up a phone and call to find out? Jeesh.
