Can we make a new forum ???

Post by MartinPierre » Oct 9th 2002, 10:13 am

Hi folks !

You may remember me as backing AU 100% in the past.

I am no longer so sure, but I am not cancelling my order, if only out of curiosity...

And since I was billed in MARCH, the full amount, so it is now too late to contest the charge...

I think we should split this forum in two : one about the DVD itself, and one about the problems.

I want to know what Ross has to announce, I want to read what Jason has to say about the progress.

I want to know what people are playing to do with the DVD or even about releases from other companies.

But these few messages are like a needle in a haystack of complaints about AU !!!

I am not saying these concerns should not be voiced : just that it should be voiced in a proper place.

When the DVD are going to be delivered, we'll talk about them but there will still be problems and people uhhappy because of problems...

BTW I am hopeful :

For 99$ I had expected :
- A DVD box set. At that point, a bonus disc was JUST a possibility.

Now, I might get :
- 6$ off shipping ( I am in Canada )
- a DVD box set
- A bonus disc
- a lunch box
- a T-shirt
- a coupon for AU
- something else

If I switch to Amazon, in addition to having lost all the interests on my credit card, I will lose all the freebies, just for gaining 40$ US.

Now, to get that 40$, I need to be reimboursed, then I will need to wait until amazon has the DVD..

And if Amazon has them before AU ships, I can always cancel and switch to Amazon !

I hope that you understand if I only post here. I already have too many sites to log into. Besides, I think the other forum was created by AU. I mean, it's not like the guy ever even posted here before.

What his problem ???

He posted exactly once, and only to announce his forum...

I have NOTHING against MSCL.com and back them 100%. They are INCREDIBLE people !

And so are you Jason !

I do not want to create a new forum off-site, I want to split this one in two specifically because I don't have time to read everything...

I have a new baby ( she is almost 6 weeks old, see here :http://www.frenette.qc.ca/Korallia.1244.0.html ), a demanding job, a part-time webhosting company ( http://www.cablan.net ) and participate in at least half a dozen mailing lists and discussion forums.

I don't have time to add another one !

Plus, I don't think seperating the resources will help...

I just want the complaints in a seperate forum so I can read only the really interesting stuff.

Is it that unreasonable ? This forum is supposed to be about the DVDs, not about the customer service ( and lack thereof ) of Another Universe...

Once was interesting. Twice was ok, but now we get bombarded over and over again.

And yes, I was double-charged : I was the first person to be double-charged !

I was reimboursed, and it took 8 weeks.

But if I want to complain, I will try not to bombard everyone with my remarks unless they are welcomed.

Which is why I think two forum would work well.

Those who want to complain will still be able, and I will even read that forum once in a while.

But this forum will return to it's main purpose : The DVDs, not AU.

Telltale sign: Notice some SPELLING errors...ones even a spellcheck recommended for him to use would not cover?

this one is to uptight fresh, and people are to rude.
Ahem.

I think it will be easier to create a DVD forum when the DVDs are delivered safely to 3,600+ front porches.

I think I should clear something up here

Post by goldennest » Oct 9th 2002, 11:28 pm

First of all, this new forum http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mscl_dvd_forum/ is not with AU, amazon or any other entity.

this forum is for MSCL DVD chat, not for customer service related bickering.

Since this forum is not selling, servicing, or distributing the new DVDs, it will not cater to the such.

Doesnt have to. Its a fan site, not a customer service call center. Like it is here. If i have offended anybody it was not meant to be interpreted in that fashion.

If you have and like a nice and clean enviroment where you can discuss MSCL DVD release, as it pertains to the show then discuss the release, as far as all this filing complaint business, this forum will be a breath of fresh air, if your sick and tired of hearing complaints.

plus its free, :) and upwind.

Incidentally, Jason, this is probably as good a place as any to mention this: When I go to the url http://www.mscl.com/forum and see the "DVD" section, I see that the description of this section still talks like the DVDs are an AU exclusive (no, doesn't mention the word "exclusive", but it's implied in a way).

Maybe its time to reword that, in light of events? :)

Good idea, I changed it.

Regarding a new forum: I see no reason at the moment to create a second DVD forum. Almost everything we know about the content of the DVD is in the FAQ. And as noone has the DVDs yet, noone can talk about or discuss the content.
(And there is already a seperate forum for the discussion of the episodes)
It would be very hard to divide between "customer support" and updates about the progress of the DVD production as both topics are too closely connected to each other right now. As soon as a production delay would be announced, somebody would immediately ask "Should I cancel my order?" and so on...

The problem is that many newbies (and oldbies) start new topics for questions already answered or information already shared in one of the existing threads. So please, everyone: use the Search function before posting.
