DVD's no longer shipping on 17th. Probably.

Post by Pedro! » Sep 15th 2002, 10:13 am

According to Jason, it is highly unlikely that the sets will be shipping on the 17th. He told me in an email that he has never known BMG to turn a set around in two weeks (and considering he only got the test DVD's last week..) so it looks like we've been fucked around yet again.

Apparently the discs ARE being pressed as we speak/read but what use is that when we've been promised these discs will be going out on the 17th.
Jason said he has no idea where the 17th date came from (apparently it all happened while he was 'on honeymoon') but itsnt a realistic one.

This is the final f***ing straw. I'm cancelling my order.

You asked me my opinion. I simply said that BMG has never turned something around so quickly. At the same time, I said that 9/17 was highly unlikely based on what I know of BMG.

I also said that they are being pressed and the estimate would likely only be off by a couple of days. It is not rocket science that since I had the check disc on Monday, and overnighted it back to them (they would have received on Tuesday), it is pretty close to impossible to press the discs and ship them cross-country in under a week. I've never seen it happen.

If that is reason enough to cancel your order, I told you to cancel. To have stuck with it this long, when the discs actually exist now and are waiting to arrive is silly.

In your email you told me I was being flippant. I was just calling it the way I see it. I'm sorry that that qualifies as flippant these days. Where I come from we call it honesty.

I don't think anybody cares if you cancel or not

sorry to sound harsh, but what's exactly your problem? Waiting maybe a week longer? So what

I can wait a bit longer and won't die if I get the DVDs some days later.

I'm more interested in getting the double charge back (in the mail I got from Wade, AU apologizes that this even happened and states that they're currently checking all orders to fix the problems) and I would be happy if the TV/Radio Museum-documentary about MSCL would be on the bonus disc.

I definitely understand the idea of something being the last straw. I think I say "this is the f*cking last straw" just about every day when it comes to this project.

I warned AU early on that if they did not prevent/fix double charge problems or other errors that there would this be a blending of problems in the minds of customers.

I will state again, as somebody who has been critical of AU when I felt something was amiss, that the delays here are not their fault. The Sept 17 was perfectly doable based on what BMG told them. I also know how the June date was doable, were it not for the delays caused when BMG realized they had to look into some clearance issues.

I also know that I watched a really cool DVD collection just last week. So I'm not particularly panicky. I didn't mean to sound flippant, I just meant to downplay the seriousness of the situation. Perhaps, because I've already watched the discs, I 'm less likely to be panicky.

Also, my post should not be mistaken for fact. Just an educated guess.

My problem exactly

Post by Pedro » Sep 16th 2002, 7:37 am

Excuse me mephisto, but who asked for your opinion anyway?
I'm not remotely bothered if people are not emotionally moved by the prospect of me cancelling my order, and I very much doubt that people
are having sleepless nights about you getting your double charge refunded.

In response to your deeply probing question, 'my problem' is that this set
has been promised to us on several dates, and there are rumours, educated guesses, and opinions telling us that the 17th is not going to be the date it ships.

I'm not irrational - waiting a few extra days isn't going to give me a nervous breakdown, but when the original date falls through, the bonus disc and the lunchbox aren't ready for shipping, and AU rarely respond to emails, I have a right to have a problem. I have no idea when these sets are due to ship. First were told one date, then were told that only so many sets will be sent out per day causing more delays, then were told MAY not be ready for the 17th.

I think I have a right to have a problem, and either way, it's really none of your business.

P.S - 'Sorry to sound harsh' ....ahem.

that's not what I'm saying: I just think that people who were double charged have more a reason to be concerened

who asked for my opinion? you posted in a public forum

I understand that. But I don't see why it should be a problem. I don't care if I get this DVDs this week or next week. Why would this little delay be a reason to cancel? You prepaid for the set, you waited half a year and NOW you want to cancel?

that's the last thing I'm saying on this matter, because it's a useless discussion and there was no intention to attack you, it was just my opinion.

I'm told that AU is still expecting shipment for this week. Know what, though? I think they should hold off on issuing an exact date until they find 4000 copies of this set in their mailbox.

i would assume that they will ship them faster than it would take me to get to Sacramento with an army of pitch fork and torch-bearing MSCL fans.

If they(AU) get the sets this week then we better get them by the end of September. There is no reason this would take more than a few days to ship every single set out to people as long as they actually work at it.

Hopefully it doesn't even take a few days, but I guess it doesn't matter too much now that the Sept. 17th date isn't an exact date for shipping.

So yeah, we better get them before October comes! Not that I will do anything if we don't but I'm just tired of waiting and I don't see any reason for us to not have them by then anyway.

I guess what i'm wondering then is what about people who don't frequent this frickin' board?!?
what if my mom just stumbled across the AU website and decided to order it for me oh so many months ago and has NO IDEA that this board exists...
I cannot believe how incredibly unprofessional this entire operation has been. From EVERYONE involved. How difficult is it to send out a friggin' update email to appease people?!?

sheesh

last ... time.... ever
i deal with ANYONE involved in this fiasco....

In my defense, I've just been trying to pick up the pieces.
