I had a typo in Larry's phone number

Larry Larpen
Director of Marketing
BMG Special Products
212-930-3931 (i accidentally had 3930 in one of my posts.)

I don't want to spare him any of the phone calls. Why should I be the only one on the phone 3-4 hours a day about this thing? Tell him I say hi.

Ship Date

Post by kimincali » Jul 11th 2002, 7:28 pm

When I talked to the people at Another Universe yesterday about my credit card order, they said the ship date will be in late August. The guy I talked to was obviously not the head of the company or anything, but that's what he said.

That is totally reasonable based on everything I know. I am confident that the discs will be done. Now I am trying to get the lunchboxes priority shipped from Hong Kong. When there was a holdup in clearances it froze everything. It is totally doable in this time frame. If anything pops up I will be the first to post it.

See You In August

Finally! A Date!! Thank you Jason for the "mid to late August" date.

This is all I was after. It took you long enough to answer it but I am grateful for this information.

I'll be back in "mid to late August" to see (a) if it materializes and (b) if the pre-order possie are still saying how wonderful it is that someone else (that they don't know) has $100 of their money but they don't care because they're "real fans".

But mong face, I thought you had pre-ordered? It doesn't sound much like you're a member of the "pre-order posse" when you refer to their money rather than our money. If you haven't actually pre-ordered yourself, it really begs the question as to what damn business it is of yours what anyone else chooses to do with their money? If I choose to blow my life savings on pyramid schemes and timeshare apartments, nevermind a bunch of DVDs, then I don't see what it's got to do with you. Now go play with the traffic monkeyboy.

my 2 cents/pence/euros

When I saw the MSCL DVD set advertised I was delighted ; I have fond memories of the show & at the time it aired over here in the UK it was like a breath of fresh air. Same story I'm sure you get all the time in here.

It amazes me that it has such a fan base that you have managed to persuade a multinational company to release it based solely on fan pressure, it's no small achievement. I knew when I ordered the set that it was a leap into the dark and that it wouldn't be a smooth ride & it's unprecedented - but I have to do is sit back and wait for it to show up. I pop in here every few weeks to check for news.

Thanks to Jason for keeping the pressure up on our behalf, thanks to you rabid MSCL crazies for getting the damn thing released in the first place. I've waited years on end to see the show again, a few more months isn't going to kill me.

It might kill me.

I am amazed that I have been fighting for a press release from BMG for about 4-5 months. I was interviewed by someone from their intranet news site yesterday and the article was suppose to run today.

Then I got an email of yet more "clearance issues." I know I am supposed to maintain a certain degree of decorum, but "going apeshit" is the only way to accurately describe my response.

Here is my IM thread with BMG from this morning. (Screenames changed to protect the guilty  )

Ja5on [9:24 AM]: marco called me and said there were clearance issues? doesn't bertelsmann own napster? since when are clearance issues a problem. 8)
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: do you know what clearance issues have now popped up?
Larry[9:29 AM]: Only thing I know is that DANA said the project has not cleared yet and they have not produced anything
Larry[9:29 AM]: I do not want to release a statement for all of Bertelsmann to see before I know the product is going out the door
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: i don't get it. i spoke with Mark at AIX and they got a faxed authorization to start production. And they have!!!
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: i was there at AIX!
Larry[9:29 AM]: Then Dana is partying to hard.
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: heh
Larry[9:29 AM]: I will check with her again this morning
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: tell her that AIX is actually working on this thing now
Ja5on [9:27 AM]: I have been waiting for a press release for what? like 4 months? You guys just don't love me any more. -sniff-

Just wanted to reiterate that the "Oh Isn't Jason Just the Best?!" Brigade will be throwing a parade in his honor.

Time and place will remain top secret as to avoid the mud slingers sneaking in.

Unfortunately, my budget only extends to a bag of Cheetos (half eaten, at that) and tap water. I spent all my money getting the official OIJJTB tshirts made.

See y'all there!

Hey Candygirl!! How've you been? :D

Suggestion about the parade....let's end the processional by all walking into a pub, where we sing "For he's a jolly good fellow" and proceed to get Jason WASTED on as much beer as he can stand!!!

LOL... 8)
