Theory as to AU's treatment of Pre-Orders

Post by andrewgd » Oct 29th 2002, 8:03 pm

Has anyone thought that maybe the reason that AU doesn't give a s**t about the pre-orders is because they can make $25 more per set, plus not have to give out the $30 gift certificate and extras that they had promised?

1) I see it all now...take preorders to make sure there is interest.

2) Screw over preorders so they cancel.

3) Take the sets that were going to make $40 profit per set (minus $30 gift certificate and other freebies) and sell it for $115, making $65 profit per set.

Thats $55 extra dollars per set that they'll make on all the canceled pre-orders.

And according to Jason's newest statistics:

371 cancels x $55 = $20,405.00

Lemme restate that: $20,405.00. And this number will only go up the longer AU screwes with its preorder customers.

That's the profit they are getting by letting us cancel. I somehow doubt that this fact hasn't crossed Ross' mind. Add that number to the amount they have yet to refund (~$33,382.58) You get ~$50,000.00. Yes, quite a lot of money. (Thanks for the edit Howard, I guess I got too worked up.)

Ok, I've posted the topic, now discuss:

Never to be one to come down on the side of AU, I should still point out that ~$50,000.00 is only half a hundred thousand, not half a million. :)

Which makes it even more important to pay Ross back in turn by reporting his business practices to the California AG and the http://www.ifccfbi.gov/site

I continue to wonder and ask the same ole question:

Where the bleep did all the money go? :x

All those orders and overcharges and double charges and triple charges and they could still barely pay the manufacturers at the 59th minute of the 11th hour.

Where's the f'ing money?! :x
