based on stories and characters created by Winnie Holzman

I guess it wouldn’t help to say I’m sorry
The signs I failed to notice now seem clear
It’s obvious that you are something special
So why was I so blind when you were here?

I know it’s a cliche, but I’ll still say it
We do take things for granted; yes it’s true
Until they’re gone we fail to see their value
I miss you but there’s nothing I can do

I realize you’ve met a lot of people
I don’t suppose you ever think of me
I’d be surprised if somehow you remember
I envy you; you’re lucky to be free

I understand your life goes on without me
I can’t imagine what you’re doing now
Although my life’s alright, I would rewind it
Erase my past mistakes if I knew how

I have no right to re-establish contact
There’s nothing I expect or hope to find
Then why am I confessing in this manner?
I’m selfishly pursuing peace of mind
