MSCL and Alicia as Angela?

I don't know if this has been brought up yet but had Alicia Silverstone, the other choice for the part of Angela Chase--had been chosen--how do you think it would have affected the show? Would the show have been better? Worse? In what ways would it have been different? Would she have played a good Angela and what about her interractions with the other characters?

Well I think it would have been a totally different show. I don't think it would have been as good without Claire Danes as Angela. Claire was good looking and the girl next door type at the same time. I think the interaction with the friends would have been different too. There's something about Claire that makes you feel like you know her or know someone like her. You don't get that same quality with Silverstone. Also you get the sense that Angela played by Danes isn't in the same league with Jordan, which you might feel with Silverstone....I don't know...Danes as Angela is and was the best choice. She's like the underdog of the actresses, and there are undergods in all of us who relate to Danes' Angfela . "in my humble opinion" I wouldn't have related to the Alicia Angela. Whether the show would have gone on longer or shorter, I have know idea.
