Valentine's Ideas
Kristen may I recommend this suggestion I received from a friend:
Tequila and Porn Anyway to answer the question I have a plan but its not much... I'm taking her to a Home and Garden show in Cleveland. Now before you jump up and yell at me this is something she wants to do... And I mean Really Really wants to do! She loves these things. I enjoy them myself but I don't get as excited about them as she does. So that some flowers and a card. I was also going to pre-order the Harry Potter book for her as she loves Harry Potter. The mix cd idea isn't bad either, have to see if I have time to put it together tonight. I was thinking: I Quit - Hepburn Already Met You - Superfine Self Esteem - Offspring Girlfriend in a Coma - The Smiths Back 2 Good - Matchbox 20 Cheatin - Goo Goo Dolls This Old House - The Clarks Alone - Lisa Loeb Just Kidding! "When I disagree with a rational man, I let reality be our final arbiter; if I am right, he will learn; if I am wrong, I will; one of us will win, but both will profit." - Ayn Rand
This is one of those holidays where it's really the thought that counts. The betrothed and I are going simple. We already bought CDs and traded them with each other, since we normally can't add to our already insane collection due to money constraints. And we're planning on doing dinner and a movie tomorrow since we don't usually get a chance to do that.
I actually did a consumer column on Valentine's Day gifts from the heart instead of the wallet. You can read it at http://www.starnewspapers.com/star/spbi ... x13pay.htm . Megs, there is a link to a good quote site contained in that article. As for those of you who are single on Valentine's Day, do your best to do something sweet for yourself. After all, you deserve it. "When you drink from the cup of life, chug." ~ Citibank billboard
Great article, NightJessi. I just might send it to my husband. And the site you gave for love quotes is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much! "I have all these dreams where I know exactly what to say. And you tell me, you know, that you forgive me."
I'm going to treat myself to a movie. And, I'll probably partake in some adult beverages. TomSpeed
Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you? Graham: And how much of you? Angela: Dad! Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me? http://www.last.fm/user/TomSpeed/
A good Valentines day "love quote" :
"Our love is like licking the ass of a dead squirrel that's laying bloated in the sun; but also...there's a negative side?" From Bruce McCulloch's (of Kids in the Hall fame) song "Our Love" on his album Shame Based Man (great album btw) Other highlights include: Our love...and I mean this in a nice way...is like taking Lassie to the desert, removing her teeth with a hunting knife; and shooting her in the head with a gun that you and she built together. Our love is like my parents' love. The only difference is; I won't wait 'til you *die* to leave you. Our love is like having sex with a dwarf when you're drunk. Oh, it's great at the time; but when you think about it the next day at work, you feel shame and guilt, and an array of sadness. Our love is like standing on an ice flow outside your house; watching you mount--another man. I love it! If my parents weren't coming to visit this weekend I may have done just that! Next year's v-day is going to kick some butt! (Of course, by then knowing me I'll probably have another boyfriend.) Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

Hee, reminds me - one year right before Christmas we went to Cost Co and ended up standing in line with just a huge bottle of vodka and the Simpsons S2. Everyone kept looking at us like they wanted to high five us. :p Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com
Look, if this is weird for you, being tutored? I don't mind helping you a little longer. You could have sex with me if you really want to help...I guess that's a "no"? V-DayOkay,
We have decided that today is simply too busy to enjoy so we will differ our plans to Sunday. After we go see the band I am going to make dinner for the honey. She usually likes when I cook. Best, Lance Man You know, sometimes I think I would like a man to sweep me off my feet and give me the roses and candy, take me out for a romantic dinner and show or concert, then spend the rest of the night pampering me in all sorts of romantic ways. Candlelight, foot massage, fine wine - the works.
But then I think, wait a minute. That wouldn't work out at all. As nice as it sounds, I don't think I'd be able to control my goofiness. Plus, I could never do something romantic like that for a guy I'm with. PLUS, if the guy I'm with knows me at all, he'd know that might be too much gushy lovey-dovey for me to handle in one day. What does the man really want on v-day? Does he want flowers and candy? Does he want a romantic dinner? Or does he just want to fool around? (you know what I'm talking about.) For real now. I think I'd just want to fool around. Does that make me Rayanne? Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

Funny you should mention that - last year some guy wrote a proposal stating that since Valentine's Day is a woman's holiday, men should have their own holiday - Steak & BJ day in March. Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com

I'm easily pleased. I'll take fooling around anytime. A nice meal we both help to prepare, some wine, candles, nice lingerie for her, and an hour or so of slow/fast/steamy sex would be a great Valentine's Day. Hey, I just made my plans for next year

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you? Graham: And how much of you? Angela: Dad! Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me? http://www.last.fm/user/TomSpeed/ The best quote I have heard on this came from the Amelia Peabody mysteries by Elizabeth Peters. Amelia, a late nineteenth century character, states that women don't actually want a man to sweep them off their feet. They want a man who could sweep them off their feet. Lance Man
We ended up ordering some take-out from a nice Italian restaurant and eating at home, then we watched Roman Holiday on AMC
Yup, we're getting old. Natasha aka candygirl :: MSCL.com
Look, if this is weird for you, being tutored? I don't mind helping you a little longer. You could have sex with me if you really want to help...I guess that's a "no"? I was putting one together and forgot to suggest it to the board, but I guess it was taken care of. I gathered together too many songs for 1 cd, so I made up two: CD 1: Elton John- Your Song The Crystals- Then He Kissed Me Hottie and the Blowfish- Only Wanna Be With You Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here Dave Matthews- Crush Tom Jones & Zucchero- She Drives Me Crazy White Stripes- We're Going to Be Friends Melissa Etheridge- Come to My Window Van Morrison- Sweet Thing Mazzy Star- Fade Into You Al Green- Lets Stay Together Air- Ce Matin-La Susanna Hoffs- Eternal Flame John Cougar Mellencamp- Dance Naked The Beatles- Blackbird CD 2: Indigo Girls- Least Complicated Joe Cocker- The Letter Melissa Etheridge- I Want To Come Over Dave Matthews- Satellite Moby- Love Theme Nil Lara- Baro Johnny Clegg- Rolling Ocean Avril Lavigne- I'm With You The Crystals- Da Doo Ron Ron The Beatles- Why Don't We Do It In The Road Chris Isaak- Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing Chakachas- Jungle Fever Phil Collins- Tame Me Home Air- La Femme d'Argent Moby- God Moving Over the Face of the Waters Paul Simon- Hearts and Bones So what do you think? Any good? I'm especially fond of the second cd. "Your imagination, like a child, will explode with unrestrained possibilities for adventure."
