I need to know...

Post by fnordboy » Oct 8th 2002, 3:11 pm

Is this just one big university experiment on just how much the American Consumer can take (with the non american Lifers here as another variable)?

Because this is getting out of hand. Everyone get the pitchforks and the torches ready, its about time to storm the castle.

Your question reminds me of a talk show episode I saw once where they started a line outside of a building just to see if people would get in line without knowing what they were waiting for.

Going OT here, but...

I'll bet people lined up too. ^_^

A fun thing to try on a crowded street. Pick a spot in the sky, and stare at it like there's something weird there. Crane your neck, look puzzled... it doesn't take long for people to stop and look in the same direction to see what you are looking at.

I went to Rutgers. I lived in Jersey for like 10 years too. I went to rutgers for undergraduate and for business school. (I obviously slept through the class on picking reputable retail partners).

Allright! More people from Jersey.

Jason, I went to Rutgers too! Undergrad.

I'll meet you at the grease trucks after this...then off to Queens for a brew.

Heh heh.

I was there when Jimmy's truck burned down Image

I lived in Demarest Hall, and the trucks used to be down by the dorms. After the fire thingy, they moved them all to the parking lot near Scott Hall.

When I went to Rutgers you only had once choice of sandwich from the Grease Trucks. THE FAT CAT. Now, it's like a whole cottage industry of different sandwiches! There's The Fat Darrel, The Fat Sam, The Death Burger ("we killed 4 types of animals (lamb, chicken, beef and I forgot the last one) to make this burger, so you'd better like it.") I was astonished at how much it all changed!

The Grease Trucks are kind of funny on a Thursday or Friday night. All the jocks and fratboys go there after they get drunk, eat their sandwiches and fight with each other.

I'm a bit of a falafel buff myself.

LOL at this conversation!!

I see you're a big fan, as I am, of the lovely vehicles that serve up some of the best greasy food in the world (next to the Somerset Diner). :P

Ahh, see, I only knew the trucks in their newer location across from Scott Hall. All the variations on the FAT CAT crack me up. Those sandwiches are like a heart attack waiting to happen!

Thursday nights were the craziest at the trucks.

I have a few things to say to you, in honor of the great grease truck owners.

1. "Hello my friend!!!!"
2. "You want, egg and cheese, SALTPEPPERKETCHUP?" (note, salt, pepper, and ketchup constitute one word)
3. "You want hot sauce with dat?"

:P

To everyone else, sorry for the very off-topic nature of my above post. But, damn, I gotta laugh to blow off some steam. 8)

Now, I think I'll go eat my lunch with some saltpepperketchup.

Ever eat at Evelyns? If so, true or not:

Grease truck food at 3x the price with all the ambiance of a bowling alley.

Ate at Evelyn's many times. Too true about the lack of ambiance. But I think their Lebanese food is a notch above the grease trucks. Bad part is, they don't say "hello my friend"...and I don't know about you, but when I order a falafel, I want to hear an enthusiastic Arab man yelling "HELLO MY FRIEND!"

:P

This is good comic relief on a dreary Wednesday!
