Home theater? $200? Possible!Home theater? $200? Possible!Maybe this goes into "Your So-Called Life" or "Everything Else", I dunno.

Anyways, backstory, before the pictures. I learned that you can take an overhead projector, and one of those lcd panels that people used to use for presentations, and hook it up to a tv, vcr, or computer, and have your own home theater. Used LCD panel $130. Broken (and then fixed) overhead projector: FREE Bulb for projector: $20 http://my.imaginationispower.com/images/DCP_1444_2.jpg http://my.imaginationispower.com/images/DCP_1445_2.jpg (they're a bit misleading, I had to do a 16 sec timer, but with a white sheet behind, it'll be the perfect brightness.) The fact that I now have my own drive-in theater: PRICELESS. Seriously though, I'd been using it off and on just on my wall, with a screensize of about 3' by 4'. Its pretty fun when I hook my old school playstation up to it and crank up the Tony Hawk 2. Equally cool is watching the Matrix 4' wide. But just tonight I tried out the garage door. With a sheet as a backdrop, its going to totally ROCK. I can't wait to start watching movies on the big screen. AT HOME. I would have never thought I could have something like this for under $200. Seriously, I'm psyched! ----------------------- On a side note: whats the best way to get rid of macrovision protection? When I hook up my dvd player to the projector, the macrovision kicks in. Does anyone have a solution for this? Attaching it through my vcr, and then to the projector works ok, but I'd rather not do that. ----------------------- Ok, let your jealous drooling commence "Your imagination, like a child, will explode with unrestrained possibilities for adventure."

Hmm that is pretty damn cool of an idea, I might have to try that.

On the macrovision front....I don't see how running it through your VCR would help since that should make the macrovision show up as well. I think there may be units you can buy that would sit inbetween the player and the projector that would fix the macrovision issue. Maybe check Radioshack or something. I never was too concerned with Macrovision so I cant reallyhelp you there. I might make this my summer project
