File a complaint with the consumer agencies

Post by elvina » Oct 16th 2002, 4:40 pm

I did a Google search on 'consumer protection' and found that you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Bureau of Consumer Protection about companies. They don't resolve individual problems, but they investigate fraud, and it can lead to law enforcement action.

http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/consumer.htm

They also have a complaint form specifically for transactions made over the Internet:

https://www.econsumer.gov/imsn/wimsnery ... lang_seq=1

And don't forget to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau!

http://www.bbb.org/bbbcomplaints/Welcome.asp

C'mon, put our federal agencies to work for us!

Why would AU want to screw with MSCL fans? They obviously didn't hear about the volume and strength of Operation Life Support..

This form says "We accept complaints from consumers about online and related transactions with an international component." So if you're in the U.S. (which is where AU is located), I'd use:

https://rn.ftc.gov/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
so says Sparx.

Thanks for the links.

I have, cancelled both of my order, the second last night.
I already have one credit card on "stand-by alert" incase my
refund is not processed as promised.

The second is getting a phone call today, just so they know what is
going on, and they can go on "stand-by alert" also.

But if nothing happens this week on these charges, I will fill out those
forms.

Frankly, I am surprized how helpful my credit card companies have been.
Like I said in an earlier post, one dispute rep had me on the phone for
an hour, and before long it was like chatting with a buddy.

They even visited this forum, and found some of the posts in here
very helpful to a dispute, and if it goes that far, a fraud claim.

(Is it not clear now that the lunchboxes will never reach AU from GWhiz,
since GWhiz will, understandibly, no longer work with AU, or did I misread something?)

Hi Mark,

I've been waiting for email from GWhiz for confirmation of payment and to see if they will complete the lunchboxes when payment is recieved.

Haven't heard back yet but will let everyone know as soon as I do.

Has anyone ever used "4 on your side" to investigate these types of problems?

I wonder if that would do any good. I'm right near Sacramento, I should just drive up there and pester them myself! (Kidding of course)

sorry for jumping in here but hey, you could drive up there and pester them with a four by four ... I hear that also helps in investigating problems.

(just kidding, I am not advocating violence, but I just couldn't resist)

FYI: The BBB is not a governmental agency. All they can do is keep a subjective record of business complaints; they have no authority to get any money back or pursue criminal charges or civil suits. I cannot confirm this, but I have read complaints against the BBB itself in regards to unfair business practices and even scams.
