Any news yet?

Post by Pedro » Oct 2nd 2002, 7:08 pm

Just wondering if there's any news yet on the progress of the DVD's....
Ross, if your reading this, we really don't mind waiting for this great set, but please realise that were on the edge of our seats here and maybe whoever is dealing with the discs at this present moment needs to be working overtime with tens of extra members of staff to get this done at an excelerated speed.

Complete, Utter, Absolute Dearth Of News

Post by Nostradamus » Oct 2nd 2002, 8:40 pm

The past few days of posts are starting to read like TV news coverage of some big event, a celebrity trial, disaster, governmental proclamation, whatever. There is always a point during the coverage when all possible elements of the story have been thoroughly covered and there is really nothing new to report, yet it is impossible for the newsmen to give up on a big scoop so they keep on rehashing the whole bloody thing and pretend that it's still interesting.

Anchor #1: And were back with hour 37 of our continous live coverage of this amazing event. Isn't this amazing, anchor #2?
Anchor #2: Yes, anchor one, this is a truly amazing event. The world has been shocked by these developments. Let's go to our field reporter for the latest.
Field Reporter: I'm here live at the scene of this momentous happening, which has not changed since the last ten times you checked with me. Back to you.
Anchor #2: Allright, that was our field reporter. Now our expert analyst will give us his perspective. Expert?
Expert Analyst: What can one say about this truly startling event that hasn't already been said hundreds of times by dozens of cookie-cutter news analysts over the past 37 hours? I am speechless at this ground-breaking occasion.
Anchor #2: As are we all!
Anchor #1: Stay tuned to this channel for more up-to-the-minute news coverage of this unbelievable occurrence.

I know what your saying, but that was the whole point of my post. I was hoping that news was just around the corner and to remind Ross (like he needs reminding!) that we're desperate to know some up-to-date details!
Plus, it was more of a cathartic exercise than anything - everyday I check this forum in the hope that there will be a post entitled 'Shipping today!' but there never is, so I was just vocalising what I (and everyone else) is thinking. I didin't really expect Ross to reply with an exact shipping date, or news that Claire Danes will be hand-delivering the sets, I just was thinking aloud ( and hoping aloud too!!!)

Besides - why am I even explaining this??

Ah See Da Lunchbox Inna Yo Foochah, Mon!

Post by Nostradamus » Oct 3rd 2002, 1:13 pm

Pedro: Don't let my sarcasti-bitching get you down. I'm sure by this point we've all (myself included) considered using the long-car-trip-inspired "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" tactic of interrogation on Ross. At the very least, this warrants a response along the lines of: "NO! Now sit down, be quiet, and for god's sake, stop making those silly faces at the other cars!" Speaking of hoping aloud, do you suppose there's any chance of A J Langer delivering my lunchbox? :P

Candygirl: *sniff* That's the first time anyone has compared me to a song lyric!

Back in my old school days, I used to be the last line of defence between my teachers and a nervous breakdown; it's nice to know I haven't lost my touch. I hereby grant you permission to consume large quantities of chocolate-chip cookie dough until the dvds arrive.

Oh, and one quick question for Ross:

ARE WE THERE YET?! I REEEELLY HAVE TO PEE!!!

How did you know that I made chocolate chip cookies the other night?!

(the "making of" naturally implies that my fingers were inserted into the dough for quality assurance purposes)

That explains the footprints beneath my window!

My knowledge of cheesy 80's music is perhaps not as thorough as it could be, but my loss is your gain Candygirl, as I've decided to write my own poetry in your honor! I'll post it here just as soon as I find a word that rhymes with "effulgent"...
