the wonder years!

Post by modo » Oct 2nd 2002, 5:10 pm

I'd love to see the entire Wonder Years series come out on DVD. They have done two "summary" shows but I assume that music clearance would also be a problem. THAT was one hell of a show and I'd love to see more.

Jason, if you fancy a manga project, how about Battle of the Planets?

:)

Post by Eric Cantona » Oct 3rd 2002, 7:49 am

Jason, What about Mysterious Cities of Gold? It was first broadcast in the UK in the mid eighties and to this day there is NO english language DVD. There is currently a DVD available in french but there are no plans to release it in english

I would also love a DVD boxset of the Wonder Years. I love that show. Music clearance for that would be a pain. :?

What summary shows are you talking about?

Unless you are referring to that you would like to see a comic book on DVD, I'm thinking that you mean the anime of Battle of the Planets. Well Jason must have hopped in his time machine for you, it's been out on DVD for awhile now. Rhino released them if i remember correctly, 6 volumes. Of course its only dubbed in english  .

Well my top TV shows to DVD would be:

Neverwhere (UK mini series) needs a good R1 release
2.4 Children (UK) My guilty pleasure. They use to show it on a Long Island channel over here.
Idiot Box (US) Alex Winter's bizarre sketch comedy show from the early 90s. Can't even find downloads of this online
Dark Skies and/or that Class of '96 show(yes i love Megan Ward).

Max Headroom
Street hawk
The Highwayman
Automan
Manimal
VR.5

Or any cheesy 80's sci-fi/action show! :)

 This thread was moved to the Off Topic folder last time it was started.

Maybe it should be moved there again.

In before the lock/move... ;)

My wife and her sister would LOVE Mysterious Cities of Gold.

Put me down for VR.5...I was upset when the previous planned release got cancelled! :(

Thanks for the tips guys! I have a friend who is also a fan and they recently bought some VHS because they couldn't find DVDs. Naturally, I trusted their research....

I'm off to investigate for myself now, of course...

I want all of the Monkees episodes on DVD.... :D But I'd love to see my favorite show of all time released in its entirety..."Rhoda"....wow what a series....I'm hoping since they've started with the MTM show season 1, they might see a market for releasing Rhoda....I'm sure there's people out there that would buy it!

Forget Rhoda... the Dick Van Dyke show needs to be released on DVD.

Classic brilliant show

I'm fairly certain Rhoda will get it's chance, since The Mary Tyler Moore Show is now out on DVD (well, 1st season anyway). Fox will almost certainly get to Rhoda sooner or later.

As for The Dick Van Dyke Show, it's been in the works for over a year! While I strongly doubt it will make the "Christmas 2002" target date they hoped for, the producers of the show are working with Image Entertainment to bring this out as soon as possible. Check here. I want the "Ottoman Box Set" version myself! ;)
