Re: Wilson Cruz Recalls His Groundbreaking Gay Role on ‘My So-Called Life’: ‘It Was Life-Altering’

Thanks for finding and posting this. The article has interesting observations from a range of actors from across the decades. While today's society still has many problems, we've come such a long way in terms of equal rights and inclusion.

Re: are there a lot of male fans of MSCL?

I’m sure ABC had some data on this. As it turned out, not enough men or women watched the show! I surmise that it appealed to men and women fairly equally, but that’s not a scientific conclusion.

Re: are there a lot of male fans of MSCL?

I was in my early 20's when I first saw MSCL. I actually missed the ABC days - I caught it on MTV. I thought the dialogue was excellent, too, but even more than that, I loved how difference scenes could perfectly capture an emotion. Awkwardness, the pressure to fit in, having a hopeless crush, etc. ...

Re: An Oral History of My So-Called Life

This is wonderful - thanks for posting! I loved hearing how powerful this show was for the actors and for Winnie. In particular, it was enlightening to hear Wilson Cruz' thoughts about the final episode, in which Ricky becomes the first character on network television to come out as gay. Cruz states...

Age of Trump - POLL

I found it remarkable that Hillary Clinton was mentioned in MSCL all those years ago ("She should wear more red!"). Who knew back then that she would become such a major political figure in her own right? The election shocked political insiders and casual observers alike. There could be lots of disc...

Re: MSCL named as factor for Full House's decline

Hmmmm, seems like a stretch to directly blame competition from MSCL for Full House's decline. I think, however, they are pointing to the popularity of the other shows as a sign that the market as a whole was moving in a different direction.

I hope you all had a great summer!

A hint to the clue: it's not exactly in the dialogue.

Re: MSCL suggested by The Wire as Sasha Obama's Preference

Ha, I've actually watched MSCL on my iPad in China. I made my Chinese friend sit through an episode. She was completely bewildered. "Chinese high school is very different," she said. I tried to tell her that American high school wasn't exactly like this, either.
