MSCL 1999/2000

16Sep1999

Wondering what the former MSCL-cast and crew is doing this fall ? Well, some of them are working and have new projects starting this fall ...

PART II - THE CAST

Claire Danes is probably still on holidays but later this year, she will be shooting "Mornings with Mr.T" (opposite Richard Gere) and next year "Flora Plum", directed by Jodie Foster. Soon you can *hear* her in cinemas in the movie "Princess Mononoke" as the voice of the heroine.

Allison Joy Langer can be seen in the second season of her successful show "It's like, you know ..." on ABC.

Wilson Cruz comes back to the TV-screen and will star in about 11 episodes of "Party of five" in the new season. He plays the babysitter for Daphne's newborn child. His first appearence will be probably in the third episode. (That's all I know :) The new Po5 season starts on October 5th. And there are rumors that he may come back to "RENT" next year.

Jared Leto is playing in a band together with his brother Shannon, called "30 seconds to mars". Apart from that, he's currently shooting "A Leonard Cohen Afterworld" and he will appear in at least two more movies next year.

Devon Gummersall ... hm, well, nothing much new. He's working on some movie projects, more news later this year.

And what's the "spirit of MSCL" doing this fall ? Well, after "Dawson's Creek" (97) and "Felicity" (98), the TV-networks will launch this fall even more shows with MSCL-reminiscences. It's the age of Teen-TV. One of them is "Roswell" (WB), the new show by Jason Katims (MSCL) and Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek). But my personal highlight for the new season is a show called "Freaks and Geeks" (Saturdays, NBC). Critics are praising the show for weeks now and it seems to be a true MSCL successor. The show, set in the 80s, is centered about Sam Weir (played by 14 (!) years old John Daley) who struggles through his everyday highschool life - not that BeverlyHills/DawsonsCreek/Buffy- kind-of-highschool, the "My So-Called Life"-one. But the shows airs on Saturdays, so it will need every single viewer. So watch it ! You'll love it.

Well, that's all for now, as soon as I have more MSCL-related news, you'll read it here ... as usual !
