Winnie Holzman

Winnie Holzman (born in 1954 in New York City) is an American writer. She is best known as the creator of My So-Called Life which originally aired on ABC.

Holzman earned an Emmy Award nomination for writing in 1995 for My So-Called Life. She also wrote for the shows thirtysomething and Once and Again.

Holzman made her Broadway debut in 2003 when she wrote the book for the Stephen Schwartz musical Wicked, based on the novel by Gregory Maguire. For Wicked, Holzman received a Tony Award nomination in 2004 for Best Book of a Musical. Holzman has had a number of acting spots, primarily featured in cameo roles on her own TV shows. She also had a small role in the film Jerry Maguire.

She is married to actor Paul Dooley, with whom she has one daughter, Savannah (born 1985).
