What movies are you looking forward to?

Post by mglenn » Jan 24th 2003, 1:34 pm

Since movie and tv shows seem to be a hot subject, I figured I'd ask what movies are you looking forward to?

My List:

The Recruit - Who doesn't love Pacino going off. :D

The Daredevil - I'm crossing my fingers on this one!

Tears of the Sun - We can hope that the Bruce "Die Hard" Willis that we know and love will be back!

Gods and Generals - I've watched Gettysburg more times than I can count.

Old School - cause you always need a little low brow humor.

Further Out:
The Matrix Movies and The Hulk

Matrix, Matrix, Matrix, and did I mention Matrix? ;-)

Also LOTR3, X-Men 2 and "The Last Samurai". Patrick @ Coming Attractions (http://www.corona.bc.ca) mentioned recently on his website a movie called "The Butterfly Effect" which sounds very interesting too.

And of course, "It's all about love" - if it ever finds a distributor in Germany.

I've also been following the happenings around J.J. Abrams script for a new Superman movie. He is one of my favorite screenwriters, so it should be good :)

Already for years on my list: the movie to "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy". I wonder if it ever gets made at all. There were also countless rumors about a potential movie based on the amazing 80's UK TV series "Tripods" in the past years. If they would release at least the episodes on DVD...

Matrix Reloaded
Matrix Revolutions
LOTR: Return of the King
Daredevil (maybe... I dunno. It should have been Damon :))
X-Men 2
The Recruit (looks pretty damn good)
and maybe The Hulk, but I'm still not sure.

The Hulk will be CGI ("MEESA SMASH!"), but Eric Bana will be playing Bruce Banner.

Jennifer Connelly also stars as Betty Ross, which might be enough to get me to go.

I don't know much about upcoming movies that haven't been released yet, so I will list the movies that are already out that I am dying to see:

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
The Hours
Chicago
Adaptation.
Gangs of New York
Igby Goes Down
About Schmidt (Love Jack Nicholson)

This are all movies that my husband doesn't want to see, so I'll either have to wait until they are released on DVD, or go to the movies myself.

Sweet! You will take me to watch chick flicks? You are my new best friend!

Mr. Megs will go see The Matrix sequels and LOTR and T3, but Chicago? Forget it!

I tend to look forward to movies that feature actors from my favorite shows. This list includes:

~ Daredevil, which features Alias' Jennifer Garner.
~ League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which features La Femme Nikita's Peta Wilson.
~ X-Men 2, which features Highlander: The Series' Peter Wingfield.

Others that are definitely on my must-see list are:

~ Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions since I loved the movie that started it all.
~ LOTR: Return of the King.

I am a huge Jennifer Connelly fan.. going back to the 'Phenomena' days..known here in the US as 'Creepers' IIRC.

I don't like her much anymore, she has gotten too hollywood skinny on me and has lost her beauty IMO.

That said..looking forward to the Matrix² and so far that is about it. Nothing else really catches my eye as of yet.

Oh and forgot the Cowboy Bebop movie, even though i have seen it already. If it is subbed in the theater I will see it, if dub only nope.

I don't know if you have had chance to see this film yet. I saw it last week and loved it! I cannot wait to buy the soundtrack and the DVD, I'm pretty close to raiting it higher than Moulin Rouge, which is one of my favourite films of all time!

Catherine Zeta-Jones stole the show for me, I know Rene received the Golden Globe, but I really thought Catherine delievered in this film. She just played her part, and played it damn well! She also looked incredible! (Perhaps that's all I'm being here, shallow!)

I do hope you got chance to see it and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

The remake of The Manchurian Candidate should be out soon. Ought to be good, but I don't know if they can top the original.

There's also I, Robot based on the Asimov novel; looks promising.

I'd mention more upcoming flicks, but I keep getting to the theater late and missing the trailers.
