ABC develops sitcom by Marshall Herskovitz

Herskovitz, Saget set laffer

Script ordered for possible ABC sitcom project

ABC and Touchstone TV are developing a sitcomsitcom for next fall to be written by Marshall HerskovitzMarshall Herskovitz ("thirtysomething") and starring Bob Saget ("Full House"), sources confirmed Thursday.

The Alphabet webAlphabet web has ordered a script for the project, in which Saget will play a recent divorce. Saget will also help write the comedy alongside Herskovitz, who has never before produced a primetime sitcom.

ABC has had long-standing relationships with both Saget and Herskovitz. Saget starred in the popular TGIF sitcom "Full House," and he was the original host of "America's Funniest Home Videos."

Saget and Herskovitz's still unnamed comedy project will mark Saget's return to ABC, but not necessarily to TGIF. The comedy is likely to be more adult-oriented than "Full House."

Saget's "Full House" co-stars Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are already back on the TGIF lineup, with their new comedy "Two of a Kind," which received a full-season order Thursday.

Herskovitz, along with partner Ed Zwick, executive produced the ABC series "thirtysomething," "My So-Called Life" and "Relativity." Herskovitz also directed and produced the featurefeature film "Dangerous Beauty."

Herskovitz and Zwick recently inked a deal to create three new shows for ABC through Touchstone TV, as well as one new show for Fox Broadcasting Co. Zwick is not involved in writing the new Saget comedy, although it will be a production of Bedford Falls, in which Zwick is a partner.
